Cannon and Westover Apartment Homes

I have been a tenant for the past 3 years. Every summer we have a bird problem that is not near to having a solution. The hallway going to our apartment is inhabited by numerous birds. As of now, there are around 10 birds by my apartment door that fly aggressively towards us each time we come up the stairs. The wooden floors are filled with bird droppings as well as the hallway windows. They only power wash the floors once a year and end of season. At this very moment there are 4 dead birds by… my hallway, 3 of those already dead for at least 5 days and left there to decompose. I am assuming do not routinely inspect the cleanliness of their grounds as it is only cleaned once a complaint has been filed.

If you are looking for a quiet neighborhood with the option of owning a home, Cannon Mills is the right place for you. The apartment was completely redone before I moved in - shampooed carpets, repainted walls, waxed floors, etc. There are no elevators but since the apartments are not within a building, you get a break at each floor - which is great when you are on the third floor. There is an electric fireplace which helps keeps utility bills low in the winter. The patio has a glass sliding… down and a screen which offers a nice breeze in the summer months (also helps in lower utility bills in the summer). Maintenance is very prompt - my only minor concern was taken care of in less than 24 hours. The buildings are well maintained. The landlord is very sweet and is constantly available. The neighbors are very considerate and I've never had an issue with any of them. There are no late night noises and I rarely hear cops or ambulances. Plenty of parking and even a pool and workout room are available. Never worry about the grass and landscape - it is ALWAYS pristine and they remove the snow! The con is the birds! Not the apartment's fault though because they are unable to remove them due to legal reasons. Hopefully they will install bird deterring devices next year. The buildings could also use a good pressure wash throughout the stairwell and on the windows. They do pressure wash the outside, however. It's a very suburban feel with the houses in the vicinity. Kids are out and about but I never hear them and they keep onto the sidewalk. Overall, great place to live. The place is beautiful. One of the best looking apartments I've seen in Dover. However, their customer service hasn't improved much. They never replied to my emails, however I will be going to the actual apartments and see if I get a response then. Of all the apartments there are in Dover, these are probably the nicest and the only ones I would truly choose to live in. Dover doesn't have a lot of nice options when it comes to apartments, so I'm really desperate to get into this place!

Never got the chance to apply here. The rental office never replied to any of my emails from apartments.com. Either they don't need the business or they just have horrible customer service. I was ignored as a prospective tenant. I can't imagine what the actual residents go through. I gave them an average rating becuase customer service is substandard all over dover and they have proven that they fit into crowd with the rest.
