Park Place at San Mateo

Leasing Staff: Always a POSITIVE experience and prompt assistance from Leasing Staff (Samantha Suarez, Amanda Nygard, Danica Jaffin and John Walden) from when we first toured apartments, to transfers, move-outs (for roommates) and everything (including many inquiries) in between!

Maintenance: QUICK SERVICE for repairs!

Location: CONVENIENT & SAFE! Parks, Whole Foods, Starbucks, Chipotle, Crunch Gym, Massage Envy and many more right outside your door step!

Neighbors: I’ve lived in two... separate buildings and all my neighbors (of all ages) have been kind, friendly and respectful. Super pet friendly around here, too!

I see complaints about:

• construction noise, but personally, IT DID NOT BOTHER ME. And I work from home. They did roof replacements, courtyard demolishing, retrofitting, water leak repairs. Yes, it was noisy, but I knew it would be temporary. I saw the reviews before moving in so I was aware. Hey, it’s apartment living and I’m just glad to know they’re working on making our community well kept and modern.

• missing packages: I didn’t really have this problem, but I do track and try my best to get my packages right away. There are complaints about mis-delivered packages, but this is NOT THE FAULT OF THE LEASING OFFICE. In fact, they come in and take the extra step of writing the unit #s on the packages to make it easy for us to find our stuff!

It is great here, but can be more expensive compared to other communities in San Mateo. I’ve considered moving due to price, but no other place than PARK PLACE offers everything that is important to me (i.e., prime location, convenience, size, safety, parking, and excellent customer service)! elevators are broken all the time, what happens if elevator is broken during move in or move out?! walls are paper thin. Leasing office people only nice when you are touring, then completely changes their attitude as soon as you sign those lease. at least treat us like people for a week please? nope, just day 1 straight up rude.

My neighbor plays loud music every day.
Contacted leasing office couple of times and there is no resolution whatsoever.
Would not recommend to anyone who prefers a quiet place.

The location of this place, its proximity to Whole Foods, a few other shops and easy access from the high way can't be beat. Service people are also some of the nicest, they work around the clock to maintain the units and fix issues. But that's about all that goes for Park Place. There is constant construction, unit tear down or remodeling, and the management somehow feels they are not obliged to give a simple heads up. Buildings are really poor construction with paperthin walls, you could... easily hear some neighbor pulling their drawers. It gets worse; the more recent management staff comes off extremely very dismissive, pushing back in all directions in all their communications with the residents. Even the simplest inquiries face push back. Serious advice: STAY AWAY. Find some other place to live. Lee mas

I've witnessed a serious decline in quality since the new management team was installed. The management team consistently fails to communicate with residents and will often begin construction without providing any courtesy updates as others have noted. Even my noise cancelling headphones can't block out the construction noise! The lack of respect for residents after we sign our lease is quite evident. The maintenance team is great as well as the location. But otherwise, a poorly run apartment... complex and I highly(!) recommend looking elsewhere. Lee mas
