Close to UF, But Not Worth It: My Experience at Social28
As an international student, I really hoped Social28 would be a good place to stay since it’s so close to UF. Unfortunately, my experience has been pretty disappointing overall.
First off, the building is not well taken care of. The hallways often smell bad, and basic maintenance seems to be a low priority. Since February, several of the facilities (like the pool) have been unavailable. When we asked about it, management told us the amenities aren’t included in what we pay — even though they... advertise them like they’re part of the package. It just feels misleading.
The Wi-Fi is another huge issue. I’ve had multiple problems during online exams because the connection is so unreliable. That alone has caused me a lot of stress.
Parking is also insanely expensive, and for what you get, it’s really not worth it. Add that to the high rent, and it just doesn’t feel like you’re getting your money’s worth at all.
The only good thing about Social28 is the location- it’s right across from campus. But honestly, if you’re willing to walk 5 more minutes, there are better options nearby that are cleaner, more affordable, and have way better management.
Honestly, the only real plus here is how close it is to campus. But if you're okay with walking just five more minutes, there are way better places around — cleaner, cheaper, and with way fewer headaches. If you're an international student like me, definitely take your time and look at other options. I really wish I had.
