Opportunities Old Town is no longer one of the few apartment communities in the area. The area is growing. More community events are happening around the property. More attractions and restaurants are surrounding the property. With this growth and living competition, rent has steadily increased— yet, amenities and safety needs have not. The exterior lock code a have not been changed in the 5 years I’ve lived here. Basic amenities like a central mailroom for packages is still absent. The overall... aesthetics/hallway decor and stairwell quality is declining. My college dorm stairwells were better maintained than Old Town’s stairwells. The old rubber sealing is buckling and the marked up walls is a turnoff. Unsealed and old windows in units have led to mold and moisture issues. The lack of an HVAC system in the hallways combined with the mandated valet trash service has lead to strong, unappealing smells in the hallways. (As residents do not adhere to the designated trash pick up times and instead frequently leave trash in the hallway throughout the day.)
Summary: While the maintenance team is phenomenal the lack of investment in security measures to meet the growing area and lack of basic amenities, like a mailroom, is unfortunate to see. This is a big part of why I will not be renewing my lease.
