Thought it was my forever home
I was so excited to move into Connect 55+ Lakewood after I sold my home. My family also liked the fact that I was in a secure building with no maintenance. At first, things were great, but as time went on it got worse. I was made to sign my lease for the next year, 2 months before required, since the manager was going out for surgery. Within a month of signing the lease, the crap really hit the fan. A group of women that thought they ran the place started to harass me. My family saw this and... couldn't get me out of there fast enough. Since I had already been "forced" to sign my lease for another year, I was afraid I would be stuck paying the rent until the apartment could be rented. One day the manager told me, in front of witnesses, that she had rented my place if I could be out by the end of a certain month. News to my ears and my budget. My family made sure I was out by that date. I met with the manager for final inspection and was told everything was good with the apartment. A few weeks later when I received my security deposit back, Connect55+ had withheld about $900. The reason I was given was they couldn't rent the apartment for 2 weeks. It is my understanding that during those 2 weeks the apartment was remodeled. New carpeting was laid along with new flooring in the kitchen. The walls were also painted. So basically I paid for Connect 55+ to remodel the apartment. This is not right when I had been told it had been rented if I was out by the end of the month. Backstabbers live in this complex and backstabbers work for this company. I understand that I am not the only one that moved out due to harassment.
