The Residences At Carronade

At move-out, I was hit with unexpected charges for “damages” to the carpet that I firmly believe were just normal wear and tear after living there for 3 years. When I took them to court, their maintenance man claimed that he smelled cat urine in the unit.

My cat has never had a habit of urinating outside the litter box, and during my second year there the carpet suffered extensive moisture damage (see photo) from a backed-up AC unit. In my opinion, that moisture damage was far more likely to be... the source of any odor the maintenance man mentioned. No third-party testing was ever done on the carpet to show whether the smell was from cat urine or from the previous moisture damage, and management discarded the carpet before I had any opportunity to inspect it myself.

After this happened, I found out that I was not the only resident who felt blindsided by large move-out bills for alleged carpet “damages,” and some other tenants told me they also did not get a fair chance to inspect or dispute the charges.

I will never be a resident at any property owned by The Residences of Carronade / Dietz Property Group again. One thing you should know is that, even though you don’t pay a traditional security deposit upfront when signing the lease, in my experience you can still end up with a big bill on the back end. This setup makes it very easy, in my view, for management to claim extra charges at move-out. I would urge anyone considering this place to document everything carefully and strongly consider looking elsewhere. Lee mas

This place is an absolute joke. They care more about $$ than the actual residence. They refuse to work with you on rent and then demand you tell them when you plan to pay rent. Why is that? They are ready to evict you and will try to send you to collections before you even know you have a bill. They gave me an apartment with some cosmetic issues. Then they demand that you only have so many days to write down everything that's wrong with your apartment when you first move in. It's not even enough... time to settle into the apartment and make sure everything is working properly. Then they will try to charge you for everything that was already broken which they done already probably charge a person pervious to you. So they got paid for it twice and never fixed it. I had a medical emergency keep me from work and when I asked to be able to pay my rent in payments they basically said sorry. You pay your rent through an app, that app does not give you options it's pay all at once or you pay nothing. They truly don't care. Lee mas

I live in a 2 bedroom private entrance unit and it has been exactly what I want and need in an apartment. I am close to everything I need but I don't hear all the noise. The pool is amazing and I have so much space in my apartment.

DO NOT LIVE HERE. What started as a great experience hrough the first few months at Carronade, had turned into the most unprofessional and unwelcoming places I could have picked to live.
In my 15 months at the complex, we have had several issues go completely unaddress and simply ignored by on-site complex manager, and have had to go over her head to corporate to get anything done.
Regarding any kind of standard maintance, the air filter in our air conditioning unit was original to the complex... being built, and looked like a shrivled up raisin when it was taken out when our AC broke.
There is a trash service that is supposed to come around and pick up the trash from resident's doors throughout the week, and unless you live on the first floor, good luck with any kind of consistency with this service.
When it came time to renew, which we knew we certainly were not, they even tried to increase the price per month by over $200.
For the amount that they are charging, please seriously consider any other options that you may have in mind. I would not recommend Carronade to anyone after the way they treated residents.
And if your work from home good luck with the amount of kids that run around screaming unsupervised all day long. There have been multiple calls to the office where I have had to address children screaming being able to be heard during work calls, and I lived on the third floor. Lee mas

Apartments look nice but come with substandard services and amenities as well as a rude management team that refuses to return messages. I’ve had to go over their heads to Dietz Property Group and only gotten them to respond by threatening to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

There are chronic problems with trash and addressing maintenance requests; routine maintenance on furnace, fireplace, and AC are not completed. The complex is extremely unsafe in winter because sidewalks... are never salted and staff refuses to clear all of the sidewalks on the premises. The sidewalks they do “clear” are still covered in patches of ice and piles of snow, and they don’t start clearing snow until after 8am. The only sidewalk that is ever truly clear is in front of the management office. Stairways and breezeways around apartments are never cleared by staff.

Management tells new residents they’ll be entered into a gift card drawing if they leave a positive review; that’s the only reason people have left 5 stars. Read the reviews left by people who’ve lived at Carronade longer. Lee mas
