Can’t get my roof repaired.
I actually enjoy living at The Lady due to its amenities and proximity to downtown. They have always responded quickly to any minor requests. I’ve lived here since 2023.
Recently, I moved from a very low floor to a higher floor due to Noise pollution from dump trucks outside my window on the 1st floor. This was a great move since I really enjoy my new apartment, and the noise Issue was resolved.
On October 27, 2025, I developed a roof leak that required leaving two bowls on the floor to... collect rainwater. I immediately reported this and was told that it would be repaired within the week.
I kept calling to check as to whether or not this had actually been repaired, since it’s difficult to ascertain when it is not raining. The staff wouldn’t answer the phones, and I would inevitably get transferred to the After Hours number. The only time I would get an update is if I ran into one of the maintenance men in the hallway. “Yes, they know that this is still on the radar, but the Roofing people aren’t showing up”. Is there only one roofing company in Columbia, SC?
I woke up on Monday, December 1st, To the familiar sounds of raindrops inside. Bowls back in place, and called the After Hours’s number. As of today, they are still unable to get a roofer. I guess roofers are really in demand here.
There is an air conditioner that sits on the roof above my apartment, and it cools the top four floor hallways. This is right at the spot of the roof leak. I want the roof leak repaired, or a lease termination. I don’t want to live with these bowls in the middle of my living room floor forever.
