Things to know
I've been at the Hawthorne for almost 4 months (since March 2025). I've lived in apartment complexes for the past 13 years and weigh pros/cons based on prior complexes/experiences. Here are my pros and cons.
Pros:
*The amenities are nice (I use the pool, the coffee shop, and the gym the most).
*The community events are an added plus (regular food trucks, monthly yoga offered for residents and a variety of events throughout the year are offered).
*The courtesy carts are very useful....
*Elevators are very nice to have.
Cons:
*For a newer apartment building, it doesn’t seem well insulated to mitigate noise. (Go to the top floor if noise is an issue.)
*The ceilings are 10’ and was told the floors were insulated, however, there’s a vibration (very loud at times) in the unit when the upstairs neighbors walk around; I can also hear them snore. *The noise in the walls from the bathrooms (flushing/draining of water) from other units is extremely loud.
*When the upstairs washing machine is out of balance it sounds like it may fall through the ceiling. After talking with prior and current residents, noise seems to be somewhat of a common issue.
*Although I was told prior to signing the lease I could have curtains if management/corporate didn’t mind, I am now told I cannot because I live in the show building and on first floor (units on other floors & buildings have curtains). I typically spend a lot of time on my patio and value my privacy. Curtains are one way I was going to address this. To add to it, the bushes in front of my patio were recently cut so now I have zero privacy (they blocked some of the foot traffic before).
*Parking can be tight depending on the building you live in. For the most part, I've had pretty good luck compared to other complexes (I've had to walk a longer distance a few times), however, there is a new security guard; hopefully they keep on top of it to eliminate visitors parking in resident parking areas.
Wishes:
1) It would be nice to have a club room that can be reserved and used for larger family/friend gatherings.
2) A hot tub would be the icing on the cake!
I shared this review with management prior to posting with no response.
