Island Bay

I have lived here as well as 5 of my friends. Management is awful and if you call the owners they say that "They can do anything they want" and hang up.
The front of the complex looks great. Look again. Drive to the back of complex. Check out the gym where you will find broken down equipment. Check out the media room, stairs, dog park, etc. You will not be impressed.
These people do not care about the tenants. All they want to do is collect money.
Do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere.

We absolutely love this place. The management and staff are great and the Maintenace is always so prompt. You Read a lot of bad reviews but to be Honest there are always 2 sides to every story most of the people that leave the bad reviews are those that didn't pay rent so had to leave or those that didn't fallow the community rules and through a fit when got into trouble. I truly recommend Island Bay. P.S. The security guys are amazing.

I moved from Frisco TX in Nov , signed a lease for 6 months , don't know what I am getting into, after living here for more than 6 months we love it and signed 13 months lease. Maintainence, Service is excellent view from our apt in front of the water is beautiful. we love Island Resort

Beautiful apartments with great water views and amenities. Management was very helpful with my move.

Pros:
-Immediately next to Moody Gardens, one of the main attractions on the island.
-Has a fishing pier, boat launch, and you can tie your boat up along the little canal inlets.
-Offers 6-month leases.
-Pretty view from some apartments of either the bay, or the pond at the center of the complex.
-One of the higher complexes in the area, so flooding is not a big issue.
-Had electricity during the big freeze when nowhere else on island did.
-It’s a place to live on island.

Cons:
-Constantly... finding small roaches (the nasty kind, not the large water roaches) in my apartment even though it is kept clean. They list pest control on the rent charges, but I’m not sure that pest control ever actually comes, I’ve never seen a difference nor any person coming around to do it.
-Apartment smells of smoke on multiple occasions because the downstairs neighbor smokes like a chimney and it seeps up into my unit even though smoking is supposed to not be allowed.
-Worst paint job I have ever seen. They painted over everything with thick paint, including the cable connections on the wall and the door hinges which cracked and peeled upon being opened since they were caked with paint. Maintenance had to come within the first week to replace the cable outlets so I could actually use the internet that I had paid to have working on the day I moved in (maintenance was at least quick).
-Manager seems to always be out of the office and hard to get ahold of.
-Communication was great when I was moving in, but after that it was difficult to get in touch with anyone who knew anything when questions arose. Lee mas
