Management sucks
The complex is nearly brand new. Nice apartments. Good layouts. Reasonable utilities. Pretty pool area. BUT - In a complex specifically for seniors, there's quite a bit left to wish for.
The elevator in one building has been out for over 3 weeks. The excuse? They can't afford the part. So seniors and disabled, many of whom absolutely cannot do stairs, are either trapped in their apartment or forced to walk the equivalent of 2+ blocks to get to an elevator.
All but 2 or 3 disabled parking spots... are now assigned parking. That leaves many seniors who have just as much right to a chance for those spots as all the other disabled, walking long distances and often up a steep incline just to get to level ground.
The complex does not offer regular, scheduled pest control. By request only and only if management decides it's okay. As such, as one apartment is treated, the adjacent become infested. This come and go of pests goes on and on. Oh - and that's the tenant's fault they have pests.
They regularly inspect the apartments for cleanliness without offering a minimum standard. It's up to management if you don't meet their standard and their standard includes minimum personal effects. Make your place as impersonable as possible and you might pass. Being older, slower and maybe having a bad day where you don't get the dishes done and you'll be on the naughty list forever.
There are signs everywhere encouraging you to report your neighbors for "lease violations". The community room is rarely unlocked or used. No sense of community at all. More like a minimum security prison.
If you enjoy multiple inspections per month, being blamed for anything that goes wrong in the apartment and being judged by your taste in decor, this is the place for you!
