It is a good place to live. Clean and quiet. Very reasonable price. Trust me, i have seen many apartments but non had price like this. Also there are two gyms. Clubroom is very nice and big. Business rooms are mostly available all the time. Such a good place

I signed in to leave a review. I am not a resident, however I was a potential customer.

First, the prices on here do not reflect the real pricing.
Secondly, I love that I was treated as if I could barely or never afford to live there while touring. The leasing office has an agent who needs to learn customer service or find another job. He was belittling, condescending, and unprofessional with regards to his competitors and with how to treat potential clients.
Third, I only had gotten to view... the apartment after sending several emails and having enough stubbornness to sit in the lobby for a while.
Fourth, I sent a follow up email to the agent AND his manager only to not get a response. We were ready to apply.. Why would I want to apply to a place that I have to do this much follow up TO GIVE THEM MONEY?

Thankfully, I got an apartment nearby with a better view, better customer service, and better pricing, hands down.

When things go south, you need a staff you can depend on, and I highly suggest you look elsewhere. I work in customer service, and I have to say if you are looking for apartments, RUN from this one. Lee mas

My wife and I lived at the Avana for four years (bought a house in March). Overall, our time there was very positive. The amenities were great and our neighbors were friendly. The concierge desk was always courteous and helpful and the leasing staff was responsive and fair with us (even during our move out). When needed, repairs were made timely and the cleaning crew does an amazing job keeping the building clean. Overall, a positive experience for us. I would highly recommend.

The Neats

My fiancé and I moved to Alexandria for work purposes and we wanted to get a taste of the tower-style city life living that Avana offers, and that’s exactly what it does. We compared Avana to skyline, shirlington house, parkvue, town square at mark center, and many more apartment towers, and Avana was the best of them all! we got the premier renovated single room floor plan (850 sq ft)

Pros:
- Overall unit and building quality- clean, hotel-like experience and modern, contemporary style... living - internal appearance and room layouts feel new and gorgeous.
- Staff are very helpful! (Andrew is a great guy); Paying rent and requesting maintenance is a breeze.
- Great amenities- pool, patios, fire place areas at night, gym, game rooms, computer room, tennis court, dog parks, outside grille and large TV with patio decks and tables, fridge and coffee rooms, lake and park with ducks, etc
- Great views- high tower condo-like appearance. Were on the 10th floor (they have 15 floors)- huge triple window view from living room
- Exceptional location. Metro station and bus right outside, highway is a minute away, DC right around the corner- everything is easily assessable, and eventhough they have a gym, theres also a social 24 hour fitness a walk away
- Besides the city ambience, the unit itself is very quiet. You cant hear your neighbors from the walls
- In-unit washer and dryers
- No bugs! We are on 10th floor and haven’t seen a bug in our unit since we’ve been here!
- Resident Diversity- residents are a mix of all backgrounds so if youre a social butterfly, you can make friends easily :)

Cons:
- Very expensive. Lease goes up 100$ after first year. monthly pay to park
- No storage space. Not a lot of room.
- No ceiling fans (it’s a minor thing, but we would sleep better if they had them)
- Hard or impossible to reach anyone for maintenance, etc. past work hours.
- As with most apartment towers, your walking distance from where you park to your unit is somewhat long, so carrying groceries or something as simple as having to go back to your car to get something can be inconvenient

I think this is a great place if you love the lavish city-life and arent trying to reside a long tiem. I think the gigantic, rising price after each lease and the need for more space is why we will eventually move, but for the time being, Avana has been an excellent chapter in our life and we dont regret it. I moved here in April 2015 and live in a 2bd 2bath apt. The rent is abt 2000 including parking and utilities. that gets you a great view of dc,spacious apt,washer/drier in unit,well kept pool,fairly responsive maintenance, modern lobby, well priced parking for each resident (i live with 2 other ppl),very decent gym, friendly and helpful staff (ask for Andrew!)...those are the best features of the top of my head.

Cons are that sometimes maintenance gets requests wrong but in he end every thing... gets done properly and it doesn't take too long. There is a bit of remodeling going on but it never lasts very long, the workmen are very tidy and courteous. Lee mas
