Cheap construction
For starters, the walls have no soundproofing AT ALL! If you are a lighter sleeper and you don’t want to get woken up every morning by VRE Commuters, do not live in a room adjacent to the street. I am on the fourth floor and it is still loud from up here. Also better pray that your neighbors are quiet, because if they aren’t you will be a fly on the wall to every one of their conversations. I was unlucky enough to have my room be adjacent to a toddler who’s crying at night is driving me crazy at... this point. I believe mainly attributed to the vent to their AC for some ungodly reason being located right outside my window.
On the day of my move in, the elevator was broken. They did not tell me it was broken so on the day of my move in I arrived with all my furniture in a U-Haul only to discover that my only option is to carry all of my furniture up 4 flights of stairs to my room. They offered to move me to a room in another building. I took them up on this offer because I had little other options, but failed to notice that the room backs up directly to the road into the VRE parking lot. (Albeit on the fourth floor) The traffic during the weekdays into the VRE is peak at 4AM and I know that because I hear every car driving on that stupid road through my bedroom window. No amount of money is worth the sheer amount of sleep I am losing.
Secondly, all the appliances in the room feel cheap and the installation feels shoddy. The handles to kitchen drawers fell off within my first day of moving in and the deadbolt on my balcony door was not aligned with the actual hole in the door frame so it would not lock. The bathroom fan takes a minute to kick on after flicking the switch (they told me it would get better as I use it. 5 months later and it is NO BETTER) and I feel that the bedroom window must not be installed well, one because of the sound and two because if I have any light on in my bedroom once it gets dark, I find bugs in my room.
Thirdly it feels like every resident in this place has a pet. There is dog hair everywhere and I have seen poop bags left in the grass outside my apartment too many times for it to be an innocent mistake. The smell of weed is unbearable in the hallways multiple days during the week.
Overall I have no positive comments about this place. I feel scammed and tricked into renting a pig wearing lipstick for way more than its worth and once my lease is expired I plan to move to one of the many other options in the area.
