About The Mayan Apartments
Come and join the exciting revival that is unfolding on Stolp Island. A rapidly growing community of urban pioneers is breathing new life into the incredible architectural gems that form the cultural heart of the City of Aurora. Following the recent... return of luxurious urban living at the Leland Tower, we are proud to present the public with yet another famous building that has been restored to the glory of yesteryear. Nearly everyone in town knows of the unique and majestic Mayan structure that stands proudly between Stolp Avenue and the banks of the Fox River. The doors are once again opening to one of Aurora’s greatest treasures, now re-envisioned as a newly constructed apartment complex. You can choose from our selection of studio, one bedroom, two bedroom and spacious artist loft units. The Mayan is only a few steps away from all of the excitement downtown Aurora has to offer. Walk comfortably to the outdoor concert pavilion to see big name bands throughout the summer, or stroll over to see the latest show at the critically acclaimed Paramount Theater, which has become the envy of all Chicagoland centers for the performing arts. Entertain your friends by throwing a few dollars onto the roulette table at the Hollywood Casino, and then take them out for dinner or drinks without ever having to get into your car. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy kayaking on the Fox River and running or biking along its scenic trails. Should you wish to venture further out, you will find the Metra Train and Pace Bus transportation conveniently nearby. Your new living adventure awaits! Pretty on the Outside, Noisy on the Inside
The noise. I cannot say enough about it. The floors are tile & the (interior) walls are paper thin, so sound bounces very easily. Every time someone uses the slamming door at the end of the hallway to leave, I hear it. Every time my neighbors throw a party, I hear every word. Every time the couple across the hall stacks plates in their kitchen, I hear that, too. The worst offender doesn't even live here -- he's a guy who lives on the river somewhere, and on warm days he'll go outside and... blast the same terrible soundtrack on repeat. If I have to hear "give me your heart, make it real, or else forget about it" one more time...
Other than that are just petty complaints. The bars for the closets were put in backwards, so your hangars will scrape the door whenever you want to close it (your neighbors will hear this, too). Costs have been slowly eeking upward (parking discount was removed, gas fee was added). Some of the dog owners will take the back stairwell to the grass to walk their pets and leave the door propped open, leaving that stairwell to be absolutely filled with river moths.
