Charged $300 for wear and tear. No invoice. No description of damage. Collections threatened from day one.
If you are considering living here, read this first.
I was charged $300 for two blinds upon move-out, described as "custom-made" and damaged beyond normal wear and tear. I have attached the photos they provided as "evidence". You can judge for yourself whether this justifies full replacement.
Over multiple email exchanges, management could not describe the specific damage in writing, could not provide documentation proving the blinds were custom, and when I requested an invoice, admitted they... did not have one, meaning I was charged before the replacement was even completed or documented.
Draw your own conclusions about how this management company operates. And if you really have to live here, document everything before you move out, photograph every inch of your unit, and know your rights under the Chicago RLTO before signing anything here.
p/s: What makes this worse is that none of this came after any prior notice or conversation. Their very first communication after my move-out immediately threatened collections and credit bureau reporting if I did not pay within 30 days. Whether this is intentional or simply a failure in their notification system, I don't know. Either way, tenants are blindsided with a payment deadline and a collections threat before they even know a balance exists.
