Bad smells, poor maintenance
Could be a good building, but current management shows very little desire to improve it.
As soon as you walk in, you'll be greeted with a strong smell of garbage, since maintenance appears to leave the trash accumulating for a lot longer than it should, likely somewhere that allows the smell to contaminate the whole lobby. The laundry room also smells bad, often smelling moldy and infested with flies. Many of its machines are often broken or unplugged.
The studio units are very small, to the... point I find it difficult to justify their rental price. Maintenance is also a constant issue. Any time anything breaks, it takes management an ungodly amount of time to actually do anything. When I first moved in here in the summer of 2020, the HVAC system for my apartment broke down. After contacting the maintenance guy several times, little was done about it, and I got to stew in very hot weather for an entire month. The issue only subsided when the weather outside got better, not because of anything management did. Come a year later, the HVAC system was still broken, I contact management, they send a guy to fix it after about a week, it works for two days, and then breaks down again. After a whole lot of calling, they explain that there's some sort of leakage that cannot be fixed from my unit. All well and good, but it has been broken for a whole 5 weeks at the time of writing. I've tried to be understanding as I recognize that getting HVAC maintenance personnel has been difficult, but the complete lack of urgency and the willingness to leave me in a very hot room for a whole month is completely unreasonable, in special when this apartment traps heat exceptionally well and is consistently much hotter than outside. I work from home, and this intense heat has drastically reduced my productivity, and has in turn cut down on my ability to deliver for my clients and earn money.
I cannot wait to move out of here. Don't ever rent with Chicago Property Pro.
