The Right Place at the Right Time
Historical building, large rooms and various floor plans, Laundry on every floor with enclosed parking. Front desk staff is professional, friendly with concierge qualities. Move-in rate is so affordable, it will make you exhale. Close to beach, museum and transportation to everywhere in Chicago. Obvious efforts to restore the original infrastructure style of the building but with current conveniences. "Love It!"

Native New Yorker
As a native New Yorker there's a certain flavor I look for, not only in an apartment but also in a nieghborhood. The Windamere and Hyde Park had everything I was Looking for!!! The front desk Concierge is amazing...they always greet you and your guest warmly, and they're always available and willing to help. Power in the buiding was briefly interrupted just after my husband got on the elevator...Kim at the front desk was so concerned if he was stuck that she flew up 9 flights to check that... he'd made it up!!!! The hallways, staircases (perfect for large furniture) and apartments are more than spacious with classic touches that you just dont find in new construction, the dressing rooms with additional built in closets are my favorite apartment features. The views are great, wether it's the lake, tree lined drive or the museum-cant beat it. There's a laundry room on each floor-three elevators-free hot cofee downstairs in the morning, a really nice gym .....and most important its quiet!!!! YOU DONT HEAR ANYONE UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS OR NEXT DOOR-its wonderful!!!! Hyde Park is a deverse neighborhood bursting with culture, good food and jazz. This is our third apartment in Hyde Park and I finally feel like Im home. The neighbors are friendly, there's a bakery and resteraunt downstairs (you dont even have to go outside to get there, its built in) especially when you're not in the mood to cook....I could go on, but look do yourself a favor...take a minute and take a tour its worth it!!!

All the closet space a girl could want
My studio in Windermere House is everything I could have asked for. The kitchen is beautiful (just refinished), the carpet is beige but spotlessly clean, and the bathroom has a huge bathtub perfect for soaking yourself in on those candle and book reading nights. Also, even though it's a studio, it has "dressing room" with tons of drawers and shelves. It holds all my clothes with room for more (and I wouldn't consider my wardrobe small). Plus, a huge walk-in closet with built in shelves and... bookcases (!) on the front of the doors. Electricity, gas, and super fast wifi (slow wifi is free) not included in rent, which is pricey but it's worth it, because you're right next to a bus stop that gets you to downtown in 20 minutes and you live in Hyde Park, a lovely neighborhood with awesome cultural diversity and TWO used bookstores. Highly recommend. One caveat (and the reason for a four star rating): I did not have a good experience with the leasing company, MAC Apartments, during the lease signing process. Make sure all your expectations are clearly stated and not ignored, and please communicate over the phone with them if possible, NOT through email. Lesson learned on my part.
