Move out Mess!

Do not lease from West End unless you are prepared to spend every waking moment obsessively cleaning your apartment — because no matter how well you care for the unit, you will not get your deposit back.

When I moved in last summer, the apartment was in horrible condition. The carpet and tile were so badly damaged they had to be fully replaced — not cleaned, but completely torn out and redone — which **delayed us from moving in our furniture for several weeks.** Multiple electrical outlets were...
missing covers and had **exposed, dangerous wiring,** which was never addressed prior to move-in and posed a serious safety risk. The place was dirty, damaged, and clearly had not been properly inspected or prepared for a new tenant.

Despite being handed an apartment in that condition, we lived there for a year, took great care of the space, and caused no damage to the walls, floors, appliances, or fixtures — unlike what we walked into.

When we moved out, we spent **hours deep cleaning the apartment.** And still, West End charged us **over 80% of our deposit for "issues" as trivial as minor dust, small patches of dirt, and even a single hair left on the floor.**

That’s right — **we lost the vast majority of our deposit over a few specks of dust and a hair.** Meanwhile, the severe damages and safety hazards that existed when we moved in were apparently not a concern.

When I tried to dispute these charges, the leasing office was condescending, unprofessional, and completely unwilling to consider the state of the apartment when we first arrived. They refused to engage in a fair conversation and had no interest in acknowledging their own failure to provide a clean, safe, move-in-ready space.

Unless you plan to clean every single day like it’s a full-time job, you **will not get your deposit back.** West End’s standards are completely disconnected from the actual condition of their units. They will hold you to an impossible standard of "perfection" while handing you an apartment that’s nowhere close to acceptable.

Unless you are willing to clean your apartment constantly to prevent even a speck of dust, do not expect to get your deposit back from West End. Their standards are completely disconnected from the quality and condition of the apartments they offer. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend that no one lease from West End. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration.
