Flooding & Mold
We chose Enclave Hartland specifically because it seemed like a higher-end property, and we originally planned to stay for several years. Unfortunately, the management and maintenance response to serious issues was a failure.
We reported repeated water intrusion for months, including soaked carpet and drainage problems, with minimal follow-up to address the water damage in our unit. Then more recently, our apartment flooded from the unit above, with water coming through the ceiling, smoke... detectors, and vents. We had to call the office/emergency number repeatedly and eventually drive to the leasing office during an active flood because we couldn’t get anyone to respond.
After the flood, visible mold/mildew was found behind the baseboards. Maintenance sprayed over affected areas with Kilz and tacked some new baseboards over the mold while the wall was still wet. After many requests over several days for someone qualified to come access the wet electrical in the wall, an electrician opened the wall and exposed a significant mold infestation and moisture damage and told us the unit was unsafe to live in and a health concern. The electrician stated that this looked to be the result of a long-term water leak that went unaddressed (probably the repeat water intrustion that we reported several times that was never followed-up on). Two drywall contractors that management sent in also warned us that the wet electrical was “very dangerous.”
We later found mold growing on our shoes, hats, a brand-new lunchbox, etc. inside the apartment. Management's plan was to bring in a drywall contractor to rip out the walls and ceilings (which would disturb all of the underlying mold) while we were expected to stay living in the unit with our pets.
This wasn’t our only issue while living here: pest control ignored repeated roach/mouse complaints, a bathtub painting repair (???) left our bathroom, items, and entire closet covered in paint, and promised follow-up on previous water damage never happened.
Then there are the general Enclave Hartland vibes: one night, an upstairs neighbor vomited over the railing and it landed directly outside our front door, then proceeded to clean it up with a pot of water and a broom. A neighbor across the hall stepped in dog poop (which is all over the property) and then smeared it across the wall outside our front doors. These are apparently part of the ambience.
