Poor Management and Maintenance

Management is incompetent. In Jan. 2020, there was no hot water for weeks. They rarely answer the phone & aren’t available via email. Water being cold or turned off was an ongoing issue for years prior to Jan. 2020. Mgmt never had answers when I asked them why water was turned off or when it would be back on.

The maintenance team is incompetent. They don’t fix anything. If I’d call emergency maintenance outside of office hours, the operator would tell me that I didn’t have a real emergency....
Several times water leaked from my ceiling & the A/C didn’t work. There was mold in my apartment too. There is also a rodent problem and there are opossums on property.

Moreover, the property wasn’t properly secured the way management emphasized it would be when I first moved in. Parking gates are always left open so anyone who doesn’t live on this property has full access 24/7. Also, the property lacks camera surveillance. In fact, one my neighbors ex-boyfriend was a stalker and he had full access to this property because the gate was always open. So she ended up moving. They only have cameras in front of garbage dumpsters so that they can identify and fine residents if they leave trash bags outside of the dumpster, even if it’s full. I was once fined for leaving a trash bag by the dumpster when it was full, yet almost every time I would take out trash, there would be busted bags on the ground when the dumpster wasn’t full. Each summer, there would be busted bags of crawfish shells with flies flying on top of it around the dumpster. A neighbor’s car was hit in the parking lot and when they asked mgmt to view camera surveillance to identify who hit their car, mgmt said they don’t have cameras where they parked. Mgmt also tows residents’ vehicles if they stay in the same spot without being moved for too many days. Yet, there is a red mustang parked in front of the building that has never been towed. It was parked there for at least a year and covered in dirt and leaves.

Many residents lack cleanliness and play loud music after midnight. Rodents would enter my home because the neighbors in the apt. behind mine was dirty. Mgmt increased rent to pay for the gate but the gate doesn’t close. Some residents have pets even though there is supposed to be a no pet policy. Mgmt refused to inform residents who owns the property so my neighbors and I who lived there longer couldn’t even voice our concerns about management, maintenance, cleanliness and security to anyone.

Rebuilding my life

I moved around a lot after Hurricane Katrina. Feeling comfortable in the city of New Orleans was so hard. I found an apartment and an amazing group of friends at Terrytown Village Apartments. The friendly environment and short drive across the bridge made it and affordable, friendly and easy 8 minute drive to downtown has made it an affordability and convenient has made it a great place to live.
