Health and Safety Nightmare

We have tried to address serious concerns around the habitability of our apartment multiple times with Nina, Kristy (the regional manager), and even attempted to go up the chain to the CEO but were continually ignored or shrugged off. We had been dealing with excessive humidity, to the point of emptying 7.5 GALLONS of water every 4 hours from our dehumidifier just to keep up. Our couch and bed were damp most days, we discovered mold growing behind decorations up against the walls and inside the... HVAC closet and went multiple weeks without heat or AC throughout the 15 months we lived there. The management of this place is an utter disaster. They are fully aware of these problems being present in multiple units throughout the building but continue to lease them out anyways. This place sucks!

We have only been here for a couple of months but so far it has been great!
Pros:
-The tall ceilings are wonderful (not every apt has them tho)
- there’s more space than we need (closet space is perfect)
- I haven’t been to the pool yet but I anticipate using it and the outdoor grills when it turns warm again
- being walking distance to many great locations, the area also feels quite safe

Cons:
- the apartment wasn’t cleaned that well before we moved in so we had to do a deep clean & there...
were a couple slightly broken things but nothing big enough to go through the whole inspection process for
- the gym is just ok, but it probably gets the job done for most. No racks, one of the bikes has been partially broken the whole time we have been here, only 2 benches and one is broken, and the dumbbells only go up to 60lbs. I’ve seen better gyms but I’ve also seen worse and if this is my biggest complaint then I’m overall pleased with this location!

Really wouldn’t recommend anyone living here. The manager and assistant managers are very rude and have attitudes whenever they have to address significant issues with the building. Nina and Cara lack customer service skills, empathy and professionalism. It’s been a nightmare and horrible experience with all of the smoke and HVAC issues I’ve faced. In two separate instances, I’ve had my apartment fill with smoke. One was from my microwave and the other was from my HVAC. Twice during my... lease, I haven’t had heating or cooling. Once in May and the other November - December. I still was charged by Porter St even though it was very uncomfortable living conditions. I feel unsafe living here and don’t feel comfortable leaving my dog alone in my apartment because I’m not confident that the fire alarm won’t go off. The fire alarm system also glitches regularly and has gone off at midnight and 3am during the time I’ve lived here.
