i been living here for 4 years . wen i first moved it was nice but now since under new management it’s gone down so much . very dirty the trash constantly piles up at the dumpsters , the laundry center hardly have machines , you CANT control your own heat and often it’s days it gets too cold , they have a hard time keeping up with paper work .. been told multiple times i’ve paid rent late and was very early paying . the “ renovated “ apartments aren’t any different the only difference is a... microwave . the staff has gone down hill , the old management has much more pleasant people . they are raising the prices but doing little to nothing to make the price match the living experience. i wouldn’t waste my time tbh

Short-term Affordable, But Improvements Needed
Living at Yorkewood Apartments has been a mixed experience. While the rent is affordable and the location is convenient, several concerns related to management responsiveness, maintenance delays, and tenant appreciation remain unaddressed. Here’s my honest perspective as a current resident.
Strengths: Affordable Rent: The apartments offer reasonable pricing, making them suitable for individuals or families on a budget. Accessible Location: Public transportation is nearby, simplifying commuting... . Nearby Dining & Shopping: Belvedere Square provides quality dining and shopping options, far better than the nearby Alameda Shopping Center.
Areas Needing Improvement: Maintenance Services: Maintenance requests often require multiple follow-ups due to delays. During winter, snow and ice removal is slow, leaving tenants to handle it themselves. Leasing Office & Customer Service: The leasing office staff is professional but lacks urgency and empathy. Tenant concerns seem like low priorities unless followed up persistently. Safety & Security: Loitering in specific areas of the property remains a concern, stemming from the nearby Alameda Shopping Center. Increased security and police presence could help address the issue. Tenant Appreciation & Lease Flexibility: Long-term tenants feel overlooked, with little recognition of their continued residency. Offering periodic rent discounts or free months could improve tenant satisfaction. The property should consider six- and 12-month lease options, allowing new tenants to evaluate the community before committing long-term.
Suggestions for Improvement: Winterizing & Seasonal Maintenance: Inspect buildings for winter readiness and create a consistent snow and ice removal plan. Mini Blinds Replacement: Offer tenants new mini blinds annually to maintain property appearance. Air Conditioning Maintenance: Service window air conditioning units each spring to ensure functionality. Tenant Engagement: Improve management responsiveness and focus on visible property enhancements.
Final Thoughts: Yorkewood Apartments may work for budget-conscious renters, but long-term living is difficult due to maintenance delays, safety concerns, and a lack of tenant appreciation. Improvements are possible, but whether management will prioritize them remains uncertain.
This review is based on my personal experience and honest reflection.

Mice Infestation
There is a mice infestation on the whole property that management does not take seriously. They will schedule minor exterminator even though the mice in the apartments are a huge problem. I report the mice I see so much that I don’t even have to give them my address anymore.

DO NOT COME HERE
INFESTED WITH ROACHES!!! They do not care either, the tenants are disgusting and do not clean up after themselves or there’s pets and kids, outside and inside. Maintenance is non-existent. I’ve lost count at how many times they shut the heat off during the freezing winter and will forget it’s on during hot summer days. The rent is completely different when you actually get there, and has been for at least the past year. Don’t believe them when they say an apartment is “renovated “, it’s... literally just given a new paint job. They don’t clean up behind the previous tenants. Don’t believe me? Do a walk through take note of the hallway, smells, and ask them how long has the AC unit in the window has been there. I promise the answer will scare you especially when you take note that IT HAS NOT BEEN CLEANED. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS NIGHTMARE! Save yourself the time, money, and stress and look for something better, maybe one with less roaches

This "new" Apartment
Literally one of the most stressful apartments I have ever lived in. Since I moved in back in March I have encountered problems after problems in this “new” apartment. Between the toilet overflowing more than once, the bugs, the water damage, the cracked ceilings, and the communication between the leasing office and the tenants I honestly cannot wait to move out of here. This apartment isn’t worth the money or my energy! I wouldn’t recommend anyone to live here. P.s the laundry center is trash.... only 5 out of 12 washing machines are currently working. 7 of them are either damaged or out of order. They want to put “new” vending machines in the center but can’t maintain the washing machines or get a cleaning crew to mop up the water on the floor. Terrible.
