You Should 1000% Live At The Ashley
This place is incredible. I cannot speak highly enough of the building, management, and community at The Ashley. If you are already living in Detroit or thinking about moving to Detroit you need to have this building at the top of your list as a place to live. The team at The Ashley is kind, attentive, and friendly, and they truly go out of their way to make the building feel like home from the second you walk in the door to check it out for the first time. I knew pretty much immediately after... my tour that I wanted to live here and the team made my transition into the building seamless and every moment living there an absolute joy. 10/10 - LIVE HERE!!!

Heart of Detroit/ First Apartment
This is the first apartment I moved into out of college. The location is perfect as it is in the heart of the downtown scene and a few steps to both the people mover and the Qline which take you most places you will need to go. Over the span of my lease I had several service requests that were performed quickly by one of the staff named Jason, very professional and friendly. Apartment was great quality, rent was unbeatable, and the security of the building helped me ease into the transition of... living in a big city. The wine bar downstairs is a huge perk if you enjoy the events etc that they have or just want to stop and grab a quick glass of wine or cocktail. Great property!

Reasonable rent in the heart of Detroit
The Ashley completed a full renovation in February of 2015, and the flatiron-style building is in the heart of downtown Detroit.
The common facilities are clean, appliances are state of the art and there is plenty of natural night throughout the building. There is also a wine bar opening soon in the basement, retail next door and a number of concerts in Harmonie park. It's the ideal location for someone interested in soaking up all that the city has to offer.
Rent is extremely reasonable for... this location, and on the whole management is attentive. Building security is a bit confusing to me and I still question whether it's effective; there is a code to get in the door of the building and a unique keystroke to get onto each floor using the elevator. Since it's a ten-story building with no security to get into the stairwell, it seems as though an elevator code would not be a deterrent to even the most lazy of intruders. I moved from an apartment from across town with a doorman, and i think that was a more effective security management option.
The building was once a historic hotel and the redo keeps the integrity of the original architecture. This gives the building a lot of character but also means the rooms can be a bit cramped and storage is lacking. For example, my closet is large but almost half of it is taken up by a hot water heater. In the bathroom, the sink did not include anywhere to put towels, medicine, etc. we are also unable to hang things on the walls without command hooks, which is limiting and kind of expensive but not a deal breaker.
Overall, this apartment comes recommended. I look forward to a number of years in this unit.
