Stonehedge Apartments

Prior to the new management in 2019, I would say Stonehedge was one of the best apartment complexes in East Lansing. However, the new management team is aloof and unhelpful. Not long after the new management took over, my old lease expired. When I noticed a mistake on my new contract I tried 5 times to contact the office and each time I was told someone would be in contact, but I never received a follow up. When they finally made the change, they put me on a strict deadline to have the addended... contract submitted as if it hadn't taken them a month and a half to fix it. They were also very unaccommodating when rent was switched to a payment system that was strictly online (prior we could only pay with check or money order). I'm a student, so I was away on winter break when the system changed over. I tried unsuccessfully a number of times to update the online system with my banking information, but it kept showing an error message. I called several times to recruit help, but I never received it. I was subsequently late (I had never been late prior to that and I had been a resident for about a year at this point). They refused to remove the $60 charge even though it was due to the online system they were using. Since new management they have increased rent about $100 and have not improved or updated any of our amenities. They also just added on "back dated" charges totaling about $240 from prior months, which I think is in more taste considering COVID and the current times. Additionally, there have been a number of break-ins on the property. My car was stolen in September 2019 and three of my neighbors had their cars broken into as well. Another robbery occurred in September 2020 and afflicted several of the tenants once again. After rent increased, we figured they would provide more protection and possibly install cameras. However, when I inquired about this they did not have plans to do so. My mailbox has also been an issue for months and although they claim to have sent maintenance to fix it, the problem remains. I have noticed many of our neighbors moving out and I truly do not blame them, once this lease expires, I will be leaving too. I usually do not waste time on negativity and negative reviews, however, if I can save someone the headache of Stonehedge and their sister complex, Timberlake, I will be happy. Read More
