Lakeshore Flats

Five stars for location, floor plans, and amenities. I truly love the location, as it is within walking/biking distance of a lot of Grand Haven attractions. The floor plans are great, and the convenience of having in-unit laundry is much appreciated.
However, I feel like these apartments are like a disappointing decorative cake. Beautiful fondant atop very mediocre cake.
The buildings are not very well built, and there are very obvious cosmetic imperfections to the walls, door frames and… windows. When I moved in here, my front door would not latch unless the deadbolt was locked. Another door in my unit won’t close because the door frame is too narrow. There are gaps in the flooring. The windows and doors in my unit are so drafty that there’s an obvious temperature difference in the vicinity of the door/window.
Sound proofing is nonexistent, so you can hear absolutely everything around you, outside and inside the units. In fact, any noise outside sounds as if it is happening right next to you. Inside noise sounds like its in the next room. So if you’re unlucky enough to live next to a noisy neighbor or a dog that won’t stop barking, you’re in for a truly miserable experience here.
The appliances are horrible, but thats really a matter of opinion. Front loading HE washing machines and conduction stoves are not my thing, so do with that what you will. I just feel like my washing machine does not clean my clothes no matter what I do. As far as the stove goes, it just doesn’t do it for me, I hate it.
The mail system is an infuriating mess. Some packages go to my mail locker, some go to my door step, and some get sent to the office mail collection. Not only does the office not notify you when a package arrives with your name/address on it, your package is simply put on a shelf in a free-for-all closet that operates on the honor system. There have been times where I have gone to retrieve a package, and the package closet was filled to the brim with packages and boxes that have been there for months. I’ve had to reorder packages because I assumed they were stolen after searching the closet EXTENSIVELY, only to have them appear months later. And the property managers have not been helpful in this matter. They refuse to help, or at the very least notify residents when a package arrives, or prevent theft.
Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone looking to move, and I really cannot wait to move out myself. Read More
