This place continues to turn over on property management, with no consistency and complete tenant blame, parking is absolutely atrocious, current property manager leaving positive reviews in order to mislead future tenants which is a conflict of interest. research before renting

The property does not feel safe because the parking lot is so improperly lit. I cannot see when I pull in at night and do not feel safe when I take my dog out. There are a few lights that are either broken or not set. At the top building there are only two working lights and it is not sufficient and the staff has done nothing to fix it.
What you hear about noise is true. They really cheaped out on this place - from the closets to the carpets and the shower/tub which is one of those plastic... bath fitters over the original. I can hear my neighbor every time they clear their throat or say something. It is uncomfortable because they are not being loud but I’ve been woken up by their conversations as my bedroom wall is shared with their apartment. Maybe the place is decent for Asheville but having lived in Chicago and DC previously the place is not up to par.

The location is great since it is within walking distance of downtown. The amenities are good and the staff is nice enough. However, I would not recommend based on the noise. The actual community itself is not loud (I don't hear loud parties or anything) - it's that the construction quality is poor; the walls are paper thin and noise within the unit is loud. I can literally hear the footsteps of the neighbor above me. It doesn't seem like they're being louder than the normal person either - but... I can still hear everything they are doing. I can clearly hear the neighbor's music next door. I can also hear whenever the neighbor flushes their toilet! EVERY TIME. A loud sound of rushing water can be heard through the walls. I wouldn't have expected this from a newer property. I've lived in six other apartments before and this is by far the loudest (inside the unit). If you're going to move here, I'd recommend trying to get a top floor corner unit to reduce the amount of neighbors you have/walls you share with people. I wish I knew about the level of noise before moving in.

All in all I enjoyed my experience at Hunt Hill.
To start I will say that the prices are fair considering the overall state of the real estate market in Asheville in 2016-2017. They are at or near full occupancy which speaks volumes about the market as well as The Retreat at Hunt Hill. It is a fairly mature environment, the residents span all age groups but everyone was pretty nice and quiet, there wasn’t a night I didn’t sleep well.
For those looking at Hunt Hill I would like to note a few... pros. The buildings are new so everything is in pretty good shape, the overall build quality is decent and the trim, cabinetry, flooring are rather nice. The park/trails being so close was super convenient allowing people to get out and roam around/exercise etc…The pool is a huge bonus, the baseball games are right there, and downtown is just a few blocks walk.
I had a corner unit and the layout was awesome. I believe this is their most popular floor plan. Living in or near down town has become fairly expensive, (for a local) so I can’t complain too much about that. Management and staff are professional and reasonable. Reach out to them and decide for yourself, you don’t have to take my word for it. Overall, I found them to be accommodating.
Guest parking and parking in general is probably the biggest pain point in the community. I think they are working on expanding the parking a bit down near the stadium. Not optimal, but at least it shows they are listening and working on solutions. There are tons of pet owners if that is your thing. All in all I will miss living there in many ways.
