Hawthorne at the Parkway

This is beautiful property with nice pool area. The entire staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and hard working.

This is not a non-smoking property and walls a very thin so when we had neighbors who smoke, we had smoke filling our apartment. We were told nothing could be done and that we should have declared we were "sensitive" to cigarette smoke on our tour. If you are a non-smoker and do not want smoke in your own apartment, think twice before renting here.

The property around here is disgusting. Mainly from the residents. A lot of the residents don't care. They throw all there trash everywhere. They don't clean up after their dog/dogs. The dog spa is always dirty with hair. You hear every little step above if you are on the first or second floor. I requested a upgrade before moving in but it was denied. Not impressed at all.

I've lived at Hawthorne at the Parkway for one year, and we are thankfully moving out at the end of our lease. The management has done NOTHING to fix or repair the multitude of issues we reported on our move-in date. The dishwasher broke down, and they tried to repair with a used part that was taken from another neighbor's dishwasher (it still didn't work). Junked cars -- inoperative, and not registered -- parked in the lots. I've had to sweep our stairways, because maintenance doesn't do it. Oh... , and the cockroaches.....everywhere. My family moved to Cary from New York with the plan to rent an apartment until we found a house to buy. We had to get a rental site-unseen, and didn't know what to expect when we got here. We found that we absolutely love it here, from our apartment, to the property, to the location in town, to the people in the community. The people who work in the management office are honest and responsive, and made the rental process from afar very easy. The community hosts a lot of events so you can get to... know your neighbors if you want to. Our second grader is in good company with a lot of nice kids, and the school bus picks up on the property and goes directly to the fantastic school across the street (Farmington Woods), or you can easily walk through a tunnel under Cary Parkway to get to school. The salt-water swimming pool is awesome. You can walk to Trader Joe's and several restaurants. Our recently renovated 3-bedroom apartment is in the back of the property so we have no traffic noise. There is a bit of noise from neighbors above and below you, but I'm not sure there are many multi-family living spaces where that is not the case. We found a house only 7 months after our move to Cary, and we are all sad we won't be staying at the Hawthorne longer. We could definitely stay here for many years and be very happy. Read More
