Great location but…
The location and 2 bedroom layout is great. It’s in uptown so it is easy to walk everywhere. The Corner Pub, CVS, Dunkin, Harris Teeter, and 4th ward park are within 2 blocks. The kitchen and living room are in the middle with a bedroom, a bathroom and spacious closet on each side. The kitchen could use some more storage as there is no pantry and there is minimal space for any kind of 2 or 4 person dining room table. The balcony is almost unusable, but it is there.
The not so good. If the... unit is off 7th street the train tracks are busy and the train horn will wake you up at night. The windows are older and build up condensation, that drips onto the carpet. They replace the carpet anyway, but will charge you. The doors also don’t seal tight. If you like to open your door on a nice day, think twice. The building is constantly dirty. A cracked sheet of drywall had been in the parking ramp for at least a month. Carpet fuzz, used drinks, and other trash stays in the stairwells for weeks at a time. The dumpsters are always in the entrance to the parking ramp so pulling in/out gets tight. The worst though, is the constant fire alarms. The fire department is there at least once a month. We have had our in unit alarm go off a few times when opening the oven door. (Nothing was burning/smoking)
Major word of warning, on move out, they will be creative with charges. I have lived in 7 other apartment complexes, never been charged once. Here, they go through everything and anything they don’t like, including nail (not anchor) holes, they charge you for. Be prepared for that.
Front office staff, Stephanie is nice and pleasant to deal with.
Maintenance personnel were pleasant and seemed competent.
There are better options at this price point. I recommend looking around.

MANAGEMENT TAKING ADVANTAGE.HORRIBLE PLACE!!!
MANAGEMENT TAKING ADVANTAGE. HORRIBLE PLACE!!!
Right after moving out they sent a picture of the carpet and charged us 165 dollars to clean it, after 10 days, they came back charging us 965 dollars to replace the whole carpet, making us pay for the renovations that they were going
to do anyway. This management only wants to charge you for everything. On top of that, the elevators never work, this place is not safe, my car got broken into, and the AC is always broken. The common places are... always dirty and full of garbage. Please do not move into this apartment.

Very Happy Here!
My partner and I recently moved to MAA Uptown from out of state. During the process the leasing office was very responsive and even helped us when our shipping container was dropped off while we were still on the road trip into Charlotte.
Everyone is very friendly and welcoming in the building although most people just keep to themselves. We rarely have any issues with noise in the building. The train can be a bit annoying but you get used to it.
The location is everything here. Living right... in Uptown its pretty safe in the area this apt is located in. We are right next to a Dunkin Donuts, a CVS, and Harris Teeter grocery store. There is a cute pub on the corner of our building where we have noticed many of the residents like to go to.
Maintenance support are very friendly and promptly when issues come up. Front desk is also great. Very happy and would recommend.

Fantastic Complex
I absolutely love this apartment. The office and leasing ladies are wonderful and it's located just 5 blocks from Trade and Tryon. Maintence is timely and all the workers are incredibly friendly and helpful. Fourth Ward park is only a block away (great if you have a dog). A delicious bakery, CVS, and a grocery store are all within a block away, which is super convenient. Great view of the skyline too!

Great location, reasonable rent, but an almost college like community
I love the location of the apartments. I can walk to my job in downtown Charlotte in under 15 minutes. The rent is cheaper than most other places around here, but at the cost of some cheaper fixtures (cheap doors/windows/counter tops). However, the appliances are still pretty nice. The biggest draw back is just how young the community is here. My wife and I are upper 20s, and we feel like the old people in the building. We would not care, but it can seem like living in the college dorms... again (loud/inebriated neighbors walking down the hall, general uncleanliness of public areas, loud music late at night). The only other drawback is how close you are to the train tracks. This woke us up the first 2 or so weeks, but you do get used to it and learn to sleep through it. All in all, if you are looking for an relatively affordable/decent place downtown, this is a great choice.
