Our AC broke (for the second time!) almost 7 weeks ago. We gave immediate notice, but management continues to drag their feet on resolving the issue. The constant extreme humidity is causing us concerns about the development of mold, and my livelihood depends on sensitive equipment that is in increasing danger of permanent destruction with continued exposure to these conditions. Additionally, due to the layout of the building, our apartment is consistently 20+ degrees warmer inside than it is… outside (as I type this, the temperature measured at 82 degrees at 1am with it 60 degrees outside), despite all attempts to cool the apartment with fans (which, considering the aforementioned humidity issues, is a far below optimal solution).

This, in addition to a multitude of other issues (persisting pest problems, including most notably an abundance of roaches, broken drawers, and doors that will neither open nor close completely, and others--all of which management has been notified and aware of for quite some time). The "emergency" maintenance number redirects to the regular office number--which is closed on weekends (an inability to contact emergency maintenance was an issue the FIRST time our AC broke, in the dead of summer with temperatures in excess of 90 degrees in the apartment even at night, and we were without cooling for an entire weekend and most of the following Monday).

All things considered, my roommate and I have shown an exceptional amount of patience in the lack of adequate response to these issues, but the fact is that these conditions are completely unacceptable. Read More
