The apartment complex smells like pot, people don’t pic up after their dogs, the dog park trash gets to the point of overflowing before it’s emptied, there was shattered glass dumped in the dog park, raw chicken was on the side walk for days, the gym cleaning wipes are not replaced until you ask them to be replaced, people leave piles of trash outside their front door for days at a time and it leaks on the walkways.

Cleanliness and community upkeep are very important to us, and we understand your frustration regarding the issues you mentioned,... including pet waste, trash concerns, gym supplies, and conditions around the dog park and common areas.
Our team is actively working to address these concerns with both increased attention to community maintenance and reminders to residents about community policies and shared spaces. We also encourage residents to report issues as soon as they are noticed so we can respond more quickly.

Ascend was built poorly. It’s aesthetically beautiful, but the structure is questionable. They allow our packages to be unsecured all day and night, the storage was never available when I needed it, bug infestations that are not taken seriously, I am doubtful the insulation even meets code. The trash valet has all these requirements and they don’t even pick up the trash sometimes or come earlier than scheduled. The stadium lighting impacts my sleep. I hardly go to get club house coffee but... when I do the machine is never working. The on premise maintenance team is good and my experience with them has been positive.

When I moved in, it took me 3 weeks to clean all the debris and residue left by the construction crew before I could really start to put my things away. The cleaning fee I paid should have been refunded to me.

Don’t recommend

I would not recommend living here. I’ve only been living here for a week and my heat stopped working. I put in a maintenance request to help fix the issue and they said that they wouldn’t be able to come to fix my heat (in the winter) because it’s not an emergency unless the temperature drops below 58 degrees on the thermostat. It will be 35 degrees tonight and I am without heat.

I came across this apartment after making the wrong turn. I toured with Alec he was so warm and welcoming. I've been away from Durham for over 6 years and the city is completely different. The application process was flawless, he answered all my questions, the property is BEAUTIFUL and I'm so excited about being HOME again! Thank you Alec for everything
