Choose homelessness if you have to!
I moved in a one bedroom in November. paid the money for a “new” unit. more renovated.
-rented a unit with central air. come time to use it, it’s broken. i was told 7 other units are broken. they generously provided one window unit, said the central air could easily be out until easily october and they weren’t obligated to fix it, it’s considered a “luxury” by state regulations (their words). it is only may, i have 2 units going at all times, it is STIFLING.
-my heat did not work. after 6... days, 2 voicemails, and 1 phone call (first time contacting them) where they told me it would get fixed, i had to contact the city for it to get fixed.
-they “pay for the heat” in the winter because they control it. you can’t control your thermostat.
-the same car alarm goes off every couple nights. per property manager “i couldn’t sleep cause of that alarm neither” non emergency hotline doesn’t care. i have bought ear plugs, and they do help!
-put a notice labeled “reminder notice” dated 8 days prior to the date it actually was that they were coming in to fix something that day that they never told me failed borough inspection. it was not a “reminder” it was the first ever notice. this is illegal. state law requires 24 hr notice. emailed & left a voicemail, they never got back to me.
-I have tried to go to their office multiple times bc they don’t answer emails or phone calls, they are not present during office hours. I was a sub teacher for a while and had a ton of days off. they’re not there and they won’t answer you.
-street light has been flickering since i moved in, who cares tho right? they don’t.
-they are renovating but it is very common for them to leave new renovations (large packages) out overnight in the rain.
-packages and mail get stolen every day, this one’s not really their fault.
Sally is very lovely and has a heart of gold. I appreciate her kindness, but my apartment is so uncomfortably stifling, with two window units going all the time. It takes a toll on your mental health to live somewhere where they don’t care, where you pay all this money for air or heat to work and they don’t.
