How Is This Rating Determined?

Run away, fast as you can!

Positive note first , the superintendent is amazing, hard working and very friendly.

Unfortunately, the landlords are slightly above slum lords. I say that because they are cheap, lazy, and in my opinion; can care less about the quality of living of their tenants.

The building is dilapidated: rusted banisters, crumbling balconies, doors that slam and have cracks big enough you can see through to the other side--and over all, falling apart.

Firefighters had to completely knock out a living...
room window during the past winter in order to fight a fire next door. The landlords did not replace the window until 3 days later in order to avoid paying for the cost of an emergency window repair. All the meanwhile, the temperature in my unit was in the teens--as it was outside.

There is a mouse infestation in the building. Some apartments are affected more than others to which the landlords feel that a monthly visit from a local exterminator will fix the issue instead of fighting it at the source. (That would be too expensive).

The pipes are so old that the fire department has been called at least 5 times in a 2 year period due to gas leaks. It is also not uncommon to have to remove your shower head in order to shake out pieces of old pipe that break off and clogs the pathway leaving you with a trickling water supply.

The best part of all, the landlords will still increase your rent each year by $25 despite the fact that they don't do anything to improve the living conditions. They prefer to pay any fines imposed on them instead of making the repairs.

The area is also loud with people always walking the streets and talking/screaming at the top of their lungs. You can expect police activity just outside your window on a weekly, sometimes daily basis.

If you come across this address in one of your searches--do yourself a favor, run away as fast as you can.
