Avoid the 2nd floor (or the building altogether)

I’ve lived here for more than two years, and one of the biggest frustrations throughout my stay has been a recurring kitchen sink backflow issue affecting multiple units on the 2nd floor.

The issue appears to be related to the building’s plumbing/pipeline configuration. Dirty, greasy wastewater can back up through the kitchen sink, sometimes with significant overflow, creating an unpleasant and unhygienic situation. Despite repeatedly reporting it, the problem has continued to recur.

What… makes this particularly frustrating is that this does not appear to be isolated to my apartment — I’ve spoken with neighbors on the 2nd floor who have experienced the same issue.

After more than two years, I’m moving out, and this recurring problem is one of the reasons. If you’re considering renting here, I would specifically ask management about the 2nd-floor plumbing and kitchen sink backflow issue before signing a lease.
