Kirby Village

TLDR: Good living experience except: parking situation is bad and amenities fee is overpriced.

The good:
Maintenance is super responsive and friendly. No major issues from a maintenance perspective. A bit on the expensive side of rent, but I think the value is there if only for the excess storage space we get from our garage. Residents here mostly keep to themselves, but are friendly.

The Bad:
My partner and I moved in April 2025 to 2 bed/2 bath w/ garage. This unit technically comes with “2... reserved parking spaces”, one in the garage, one in the driveway. This is logistically inconvenient since the car in the driveway blocks the one in the garage. We get home and leave at different times for work and exercise, so rearranging our cars is a daily occurrence.

The clubhouse amenities and pool construction have been pushed back well over a year now (gym and leasing offices are open). However, they have waived the amenities fee until 2027, so we don’t mind. However, I think the amenities are under delivering considering they are asking for $450/yr amenity fee for a dinky little gym.

They are building a dog park and a children’s play ground as part of the amenities, but if we’re being honest here, the space would be much better utilised as additional parking (although we are biased, as we have no kids and an antisocial dog). Read More

Sharing our experience after a year of living here. We rent the Juniper.

When we signed our lease last year, we were told that major amenities (clubhouse, gym, pool, playground, dog park, and outdoor spaces) were expected to be completed by a specific timeline. Nearly a year later, these amenities have still not opened, despite multiple revised timelines. While management has cited factors outside their control, residents have continued paying premium rent without access to what was marketed... .

Management communication exists only after complaints, but accountability has been limited. Incentives have been offered to new tenants, while long-term residents who waited through delays were not extended comparable consideration. Waiving an amenity fee for amenities that aren’t available is not meaningful compensation.

Parking is limited and inconvenient, and recycling has been reduced to once per week.

That said, **Laura continues to be excellent**—professional, responsive, and genuinely attentive to residents. She has consistently gone above and beyond.

Neighbors are wonderful and it feel so safe. In addition apartments themselves are nice, but the overall experience has not aligned with expectations set during leasing. My advice to prospective renters is to wait for amenities to be completed! Read More

Beautiful, modern, large, great value new townhome style apartments near shopping, cool Main Street town of Somerville, shopping, recreation, parks, hiking/biking and major highways. Most units have their own private large garage and private outdoor patio/deck. A pool, clubhouse and gym are under construction. The management team and move-in process are excellent. Scott, Marilyn, Chris and Reuben are very attentive, professional and helpful. Friday and Saturday nights in Somerville are... great with a classic car show, live outdoor music and great dining options. Duke’s Farm, Finderne Wetlands, the Raritan Canal Path and Somerville Patriots baseball are all within 2 miles! Nothing like Kirby Village in New Jersey! Read More
