Broke our lease after 3 months.
Now that we have settled with this place I finally can speak out. We broke our lease after only being in here for 3 months due to the rundown nature of the apartments as well as our neighbors being absolutely awful.
When we first got the keys to the apartment, it was filthy. We did not move in right away as we had to spend a full day cleaning everything. It was clear that despite the building being non smoking, the apartment was still being smoked in. We ran the dishwasher, it sprayed water... everywhere. Not to mention there was mold growing inside of it. The cabinets reeked of cigarettes. Our toliet was completely broken. The tank was separated from the bowl and there was water all over the bathroom. The ceiling in the bathroom was also leaking from the tennants above us. The toliet was fixed quickly but the water leaking from the ceiling was never addressed despite numerous tickets. Our balcony also had several rotted boards that eventually gave way as my boyfriend was standing on it. He was almost seriously injured. It took them a month to come and fix it and that was only after I called and complained.
Our neighbors below, across and above us smoked weed and cigarettes all hours of the day. The smell was relentless 24/7. Our smoke detectors even went off several times due to their smoke.
The guy below us never picked up his dog poop, his dogs were aggressive (and were breeds they strictly said were not allowed), and he smoked weed constantly. He also had a revolving door of people in and out which we later found out he was dealing drugs out of the apartment. There were constantly screaming and arguments occurring and since the walls are paper thin, we could hear everything. He would sometimes play music loud enough to rattle our walls until 2-3am.
I talked to the leasing office many times about these concerns and they did not do anything besides send blanket emails asking people not to smoke.
The final straw we had when he asked to break the lease was he verbally attacked me after he found out we complained about him. That same day there was a horrible rain storm and there were so many areas in the apartment windows and balcony door where water was pouring inside.
After we vacated, they tried to send me bills for cleaning. We took pictures upon us leaving that showed we did not leave it a mess whatsoever. The charges were eventually dismissed.
Morgan properties and Idylwood demonstrate they are slumlords and predatory. Do not move here.
