About Northside Village
Northside Village, formerly known as Yates Village, is currently undergoing a multi-phase redevelopment in partnership with Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority (SMHA) and Duvernay + Brooks, LLC. The first phase of redevelopment is complete, which... rehabilitated 25 existing apartments and built 64 brand new ones, affordable at various income tiers. 39 of the apartments require a Project-Based Voucher, needing a referral from SMHA. A brand new community building is also available for resident use, consisting of a fitness center and resident lounge space.
The first phase includes one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes, including 18 special needs units set aside for those with mobility, hearing or visual impairments.

Built cheap
The property managers are different every couple months and when you can get a hold of someone, they are very rude. You can hear your neighbors phone on vibrate through the walls and hear them clear as day. They put no care into building these apartments. They were built very cheap. The parking is so few you can never park in front of your own home. The only positive about this complex is that it looks cosmetically nice.

Sylvia Washington- A happy Northside Village resident
I was born in Schenectady. At Ellis Hospital. I graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School class of 1991. Schenectady has been my home and I love Schenectady. I love the northeast and the changing of the season. Northside Village just gave me a reason not to move to Florida!!! I love my apartment home. I have the sweetest neighbors. It's where I plan to stay and retire. I'm 50 years old and disabled and I feel safe because there's plenty of lighting and i know that I'm being looked after. A special... thank yo to Alexa who has helped me to stay here when I thought I had to leave. Thank you Pennrose, and Schenectady County Municiple Housing for coming together. Im content and at peace. I'm home!!!
