Vandenburgh Place Apartments

I can't in good faith recommend that anyone move here, so please don't. Communication is horrendous. You have to call and email property management to handle pretty serious issues (like multiple leaks in the roof and a leaking bathtub). There is also a rodent issue that a few units deal with, ours being one of them. Because the siding wasn't properly installed, mice can get into the units. We had a chipmunk living above us, and it would wake us up when it would run across our ceiling. Of course,… it took months to even have the issue addressed. These are serious issues, and the sad part is that it took numerous phone calls, emails, a formal letter, and a call to upper management and letters to corporate to get these issues dealt with. When we moved in, we noticed that there were a lot of moving trucks coming in and out. After a few months of living there, we realized why people move out. There are other residents who said that they have the same issues we have, and they are waiting for their leases to expire in order to move out. Not only do they not maintain the units, but they don't maintain the property. Trash can be found around the property.

If you do decide to live here, which I wouldn't recommend, here are some recommendations you should have and some questions you should ask:
- what are all the fees?: The leasing agent conveniently left out all of the fees they have. This place will nickle and dime you for fees that will make you scratch your head. You'll only find out when you receive the lease and see that they have some random fees.
- does my unit have rodent issues and how do you plan on addressing them?: depending on where your building is located, you may be in for a mouse, squirrel, chipmunk, or issues with all three. Make sure they properly fix the siding because their fix for our unit was bad. We moved out early, and when I returned to do some cleaning, I noticed that there was a mouse in the trap inside the unit. The fix that they did on the side of the building wasn't going to work. A simple YouTube search will show that their fix wouldn't work. They don't want to pay a professional to take care of the issue. - am I willing to call, email, message, and get corporate involved?: you better be prepared to do so if you live at this place. We're all busy people, and we have lives, so why waste your precious time making calls, sending emails, drafting letters, etc.? Read More

My roommate and I were ready to move in on September 1st, 2020. Our unit was being renovated and cleaned during the month of August. We did not want to commit to moving in until we saw our exact unit. The example apartment is beautiful and clean and we were expecting the same for our unit. I went to finally view our unit on August 29th. To my shock, the apartment was not going to be move-in ready by September 1st. Immediately walking in, I noticed a putrid smoke smell that was everywhere in the… unit. The vents and radiators were yellow with dust on them. The dishwasher was sticking out of the cabinets. The walls were not finished being pained. The shower/tub area had what looked like grime all in it. The bedrooms were half the size of what was advertised; and to top it off, the bedroom I would reside in had mold (that looked like grass) growing in the windowsill. We noticed other mold, such as black mold, throughout other areas of the apartment. I was utterly disappointed. My roommate and I pulled out of the lease. Overall I'm happy, I've been here for 9 months now. Staff is nice/friendly I haven't had a issue with anyone yet and I communicate with them often. Very good with keeping up with the grounds someone is always cutting the grass and in the winter consistent with plowing and etc... good with maintenance calls as well. its a clean quiet and safe area lots of convenient shopping stores around which I love. The bedrooms are so big closets too love love love it.

Now for what they need to work on and… make changes to if possible, but still earned thier 5 stars updating the Appliances refrigerator stove dishwasher etc... which is in the works but cant come fast enough lol the other thing that drive me crazy is how close the dumpster/recycling is to my house I would love for it to go away permanently ?? (((((hopefully someone answers my prayers))))) I wanna cookout and not hangout with a big dumpster right next to me ???? one more thing fixing the sign at the entrance it's a few letters that's missing to someone passing by it just looks like a place that's not well maintained when it is ?? also it would be nice to see more patios, I feel your bigger townhouse

Had high hopes for this apartment as the site specifies they have apartments available and the woman on the phone mentioned all apartments are dog friendly. Got to Vandenburgh before our scheduled appointment time (1:00pm) and noticed a closed sign with a return sign at (1:15). Apartment rep, Alyson, returned earlier and asked if we wanted to view the apartment before our scheduled time. In her office, she acted like we were a huge inconvenience to her and continued to have a conversation with… one of her groundsman while going over the lease with us. We were scheduled to view both complexes, Vandenburgh and Hudson Pointe, but she declined to show us Hudson Pointe as they did not have any dog friendly apartments available. The information packet clearly states that all apartments are dog and cat friendly but she stated the information packet was incorrect (it also mention Twin Lakes apartment on the last page). We went to view the apartment and Alyson decided to chipper up, although we were pretty much turned away right from the start.
