Apartments are nice. Maintenance is very responsive and staff/management are very friendly!

Great place!!!

Really nice apartments can definitely tell that another of time and money are put into them, they furnish all the appliances so that's a plus. Great neighborhood, friendly people. Compared to all they other apartments around southgate is a lot nice and cheaper

STAY AWAY! Maintenance Nightmare and No Respect for Privacy

My sink was a bit backed up since I got the place but it was fine until a few months in and it backed up entirely. Fixed it a few times myself but then needed some real maintenance to fix it and asked to set up a time with them so I could be there when maintenance was. I wasn't contacted and came home to a note on my door which said someone had been inside to fix my sink. I was pretty pissed that they entered my home when there wasn't an emergency. I was more than willing to wait a few extra… days so I could be there and I wish I had been. The guy trashed my bathroom. The sink, the cabinets, the wall and the floor were covered in a bunch of junk. When I called to complain, all I got were excuses and the guy eventually started yelling at me. If I could, I would discourage any and all looking at this place to stay far away.

Property Manager at Southgate Apartments responded to this review

The tenant left a message that his bathroom sink was clogged. The maintenance technician went to his unit the same day to fix the sink. Most tenants would be happy with same day fixes but he was not. He wanted to schedule an after hours time so that… he would be there. This is difficult since the maintenance tech is on site from 8-5 and takes care of all maintenance issues during those times. The tech merely cleared the drain. The bathroom was already "trashed" due to the tenant.

Good place to live

Never had any problems at all. Pat was great. She was on top of things. Whenever something needed fixed it was done fast. I was never late on rent. Never had any problems. Over all a great experience

Cheap but not worth it

I’ll make a simple pro vs. con list:
Pros:
-Affordable rent
-???
Cons:
-Dangerously iced over parking lots in winter that get no care
-Washer & Dryers that are consistently out of service or you have to pay to dry a single load twice when they do decide to “work”
-“Emergency Maintenence” comes in 4-5 days
-AC will keep your living room as a snowy tundra while your bedroom is still a crisp 80 degrees
-Have had a package stolen & car gone through in the last few months

I could go on but I’m… sure you get the point. Save yourself the hassle. The money you’ll spend on laundry, repairs, replacement packages and masks to block out the secondhand smoke in the hallway you may as well just put towards living somewhere decent with kitchen counters or completely functional outlets if you’re lucky.
