From One Star to Two: A Beautiful Place with Room for Management Improvement
I used to rate it one star, but I think I would give it two stars now. Here are my reasons:
1. The apartment complex offers a tranquil environment, and residents are supported by friendly and helpful maintenance and front desk staff. The apartment comes with a washing machine, dryer, fridge, TV, stove, microwave, and more. There’s also a beautiful leasing office that provides coffee and handles mail and packages, so I don’t have to worry about losing anything. Plus, the rent is fairly... priced—what more could one ask for?
2. However, the management side of the complex can still be confusing. After a brief housing inspection, the manager stated that we had violated housekeeping standards and left so quickly that I had no time to ask questions or provide explanations. (Maybe this is how housing inspections are supposed to go—quick and with minimal conversation; I’m not sure.) None of my other roommates were home, and I was the only one present. I ran after the manager and explained that I regularly clean the apartment myself and that I struggle to negotiate with my roommates. They simply told me I “just have to keep trying.”
Later, a list of charges was taped to our doors, presumably by management. There was no prior verbal communication or email, and the notice lacked a logo or signature. It outlined what residents should do when moving out and the associated charges. However, both my roommate and I were charged for violations—even though our current lease doesn’t end for several more months.
Moreover, the notice stated: “These prices can and will increase if necessary! These prices are non-negotiable,” leaving us little to no room to respond or dispute the charges. To the best of my knowledge, this list of charges does not appear in the lease agreement (please correct me if I’m wrong).
Despite all this, I still think this is a good place to live—especially if you enjoy a peaceful, countryside environment, proximity to the university and want a furnished apartment. I just hope the management improves going forward.
