Incompetent and Unprofessional Management
Hard to know where to even start.
They initially sold me a lease on a studio unit without disclosing catastrophic maintenance defects which caused the entire unit to flood every time it rained. I filed 6 maintenance requests, each of which were closed without solving the issue.
When they finally moved me to another unit, it was (and is) in terrible condition. Some highlights:
1. Cracked ceiling panels housing air conditioning unit, which hangs down precariously. There is still an open... maintenance request regarding this and they have blown off officially confirmed appointments to fix this (what happened to 10:00 a.m. March 21st, guys?) of which I have email proof.
2. One of the air vents does not work, rendering one room ice cold in the wintertime. This is another maintenance request that has been open for almost a month, with no resolution in sight.
3. Cracked tub that needs to be replaced.
4. Scratched and crinkling/crunching floorboards
5. The entire outer lobby smells of stale smoke. I repeatedly caught people smoking illegal substances directly outside my door. It took multiple communications with management to even acknowledge this, let alone act on it (which they still haven't).
6. The dishwasher does not work, and has never worked.
7. When I moved in, the electrical outlets (every single one) were so loose as to be non-functional.
Brick & Vine has gone through three managers in the last six months, each worse than the last. The current manager does not respond to emails and has lied to me repeatedly. Office hours are a fairy tale as she is almost never there.
Management is incompetent and unprofessional. They have no respect for the residents, and there is a lot of bad blood between the residents and management, not just myself.
As just one example of their incompetence, a few months ago all residents were sent an email stating that we would be force-charged for renter's insurance if we did not prove we had it, with less than 24 business hours to prove it. Thing is, we ALREADY PROVED IT as it was a requirement on the lease to move in. Not that that stopped them. Believe it or not, this actually happened twice. They repeatedly put residents in unnecessary and stressful situations. If you live here, even if all your paperwork is in order, you will never be able to relax. They're always threatening some bogus charge or another.
If you can afford to live anywhere else, do so.
