I would avoid
If you’re apartment shopping, I’d avoid Water Leaf Neely Ferry Apartments at all costs. My husband and I have lived here for almost a year and have had numerous issues arise over the past year. Starting from the beginning (August 2024) , the application process is horrendous. We were moving from Maryland to South Carolina and the office was super unresponsive after we applied. Imagine moving 500 miles away and an office not responding the week of your move/ days leading up to it. There was one... employee who was super helpful in the office but shortly left after we moved in. The unresponsiveness should have been a HUGE red flag but we had to move (don’t make the same mistake I made). I’m talking the office not picking up the phone at all. 2-3 months into our lease, we had accidentally overpaid the rent $1000. There was confusion on the initial deposit- again probably could have been avoided if they just picked up the phone prior to us moving in.
We were told that it would credit into the next month. When it was time to pay the rent again, we got OVERCHARGED again for $1000. The manager was super unhelpful/rude during this and never issued a refund (we were emailing back and forth). Emails are condescending - I have multiple communication degrees. I explained to the manager that the portal told us to pay $400 but charged my husband’s card the full $1400. Mind you- this was DURING THE HURRICANE when we had POWER OUTAGES/GROCERY STORES WERE SHUT DOWN. Manager did not care and wasn’t willing to help. At this point, we knew that the office didn’t really truly care about their tenants.
For the past 3 months, we have had issues with the dryer not drying our clothes properly. The dryer has caused a SUPER inconvenience on myself and my husband. We both work full time and need a working unit. The dryer stops after 5 mins, runs without drying, etc. we are constantly having to re wash clothes due to mildew because the dry stops randomly. We have spoken with other tenants who also have the same issues with their dryers. It completely ruined my bed comforter ($100 bed comforter). We have put in several tickets now and we are told constantly to re test it and have not received a resolution. We have to go to our friend’s house to clean clothes in fear of our stuff being ruined. The maintenance team is nice but a replacement is way beyond over due. I’ve never had issues like this with a washer/ dryer unit like this ever.
We also had a leak in our bedroom. Maintenance ca
