Get it in writing...
If you are considering Harmony On Main, my biggest piece of advice is: Document everything and get every single verbal promise in writing immediately.
?We were met with constant communication issues and several broken promises regarding unit price, availability, and move-in readiness. Our experience with the onsite property manager, was frankly unacceptable. After being shown a unit that reeked of stale smoke and was in total disrepair, we were told we would have to pay more for a different unit... because of their mistake.
?When we finally advocated for ourselves, he became incredibly unprofessional. He explicitly told us, 'I will not continue to help you if you go behind my back,' simply because we reached out to corporate to resolve issues they were not fixing. He did eventually process a full refund of all fees, though I believe it was only because a potential future resident walked into the office during our conversation. While the on site leasing agent was pleasant during our tour and the leasing assistant tried her best, the communication response time at this office is poor.
?Read your lease very closely. There was a disconnect between the base rent we were quoted during the tour and the price on the lease (which I unfortunately didn't catch before signing—lesson learned). Thankfully, the Regional Manager at Valiant Residential Corporate, was the saving grace. She agreed to price-match the new unit to our original lease and didn't make excuses for the local manager’s behavior.
?Once the local relationship was beyond repair, I reached back out to the corporate regional manager to ensure she knew how we were treated in person. While we weren't initially given a timeline for our refund, once she stepped in, it took less than three days to receive our check.
?Valiant Residential just took this property over a few months ago; while the corporate team does the right thing, the local management has a long way to go.
