Nice Apartments, Poor Management
The apartments and amenities themselves are nice — but the management, communication, and particularly the move-out process are incredibly frustrating and disappointing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend moving here unless you’re comfortable being nickeled and dimed at every turn.
I will preface initially that the maintenance team, especially David, are fantastic, responsive, and so friendly and helpful.
I took exceptional care of my unit, but management still found ways to use my... entire security deposit on so-called “repairs” and “cleaning” that go well beyond reasonable expectations or normal wear and tear.
My biggest frustration lies in their carpet cleaning policy. Upon moving in, I had to sign a clause stating I would have my carpets professionally cleaned upon move-out — something I’ve never encountered in other apartments. I paid over $150 for a professional cleaning service and provided a receipt, exactly as required. However, after move-out, management informed me they lifted the carpet and decided to have it cleaned again — charging me nearly $250 more for an additional “required” cleaning with their undisclosed vendor. I was told this was simply “the risk I accepted” by using my own service. This process is unacceptable, unreasonable, and unfair to renters.
They also clearly fail to acknowledge what qualifies as normal wear and tear and refused to provide a written definition when I asked. I was even charged for “wall repairs” related to a previous TV mount — something that should be standard wear in an apartment setting. For anyone moving in, I’d urge you to document every inch of your walls, floors, and fixtures, even signs of previous mounts, or you’ll end up paying for them later.
Adding to the frustration, I repeatedly requested an in-person move-out walkthrough weeks before leaving so I could address any concerns in advance. Despite multiple follow-ups, management never accommodated or responded to this request.
Beyond the move-out issues, there were ongoing maintenance problems during my lease, including:
Multiple boiler outages that left the south side without hot water for several days during freezing temperatures in January 2024.
Repeated boiler issues again in June 2025.
The south side pool being closed for much of early summer 2025.
Waiting 12 days for a dryer replacement when mine stopped working — leaving me without one entirely.
The apartments themselves are great, but management does not match quality.
