TRELLIS NORTH DALLAS Apartments

My experience with this apartment has been very disappointing. I had to transfer to another unit in the same building because of ongoing cigarette smoke coming from neighboring residents. Despite the fact that I was forced to move because of an issue that was completely outside of my control, I was still charged a $500 transfer fee. It is incredibly frustrating to be penalized for a problem caused by other residents and the property's failure to resolve the issue.
The move to the new unit was… also poorly handled. I was given keys that did not work, and I was left unable to access my apartment and locked out of my own home. This was extremely frustrating and showed a lack of communication and organization from the leasing staff.

Overall, I have been disappointed with how these issues were handled. The management and leasing staff need to be more organized and do a better job communicating with residents.

Lived for a year, management and maintenance were great. I lived on the 3rd floor. My apartment had minimal bugs and insects. I got some but they were small and harmless and I can count on one hand how much I had to deal with them. I never needed to call pest control. I do have to say the walls and floors may not keep in loud noises as much as you think it should. Excessive loud music or sounds from speakers can be heard by adjacent rooms and moderate stomping on the floor can be heard to the… floor below. My neighbors brought that to my attention but they were friendly and we worked it out. Never had issues with appliances, ac, and other amenities. I did wish the wifi that come with the plan was better. For my purposes, I bought and used a cellular home internet plan from tmobile for faster internet (for me, it was worth it), but if you casually use the internet for general web browsing and streaming, the apartment wifi is fine. I also personally don't like that we use an electronic key fob to get into the apartment. In some ways, it is a liability because you can easily walk out of you apartment, the door immediately automatically closes, and then you realize you forgot your keys. Then you have to wait and pay a couple hundred for the locksmith to come by unlock your door. With regular keys, if you forgot your keys, you can just walk back in and grab them since the door can't be lock if you don't have your key. I do believe a traditional lock or a passcode lock would be better. I have seem how the locksmith unlocks these doors, and trust me, these locks aren't that much more secure. But on that note, from when I was there, the complex was a safe and friendly place.

Moving out was easy. I did a simple clean through the apartment, no crazy deep clean or anything, move out and got my full cash deposit in my mail a couple weeks later. This was my first place out of my parents, other than a college dorm, and sure it was not perfect, but I highly doubt any place for this price is perfect either. For me, I really couldn't ask for more and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an apartment in the area and is fine with the relatively small floor plan (I lived alone, no pets, and pretty minimal guy, so it was more than enough space for me).
