Cottages at San Marcos

I had the worst experience at The Cottages, and I am obliged to warn others. From day one, the apartment was uninhabitable. On move-in day, my roommates and I had to sit for over an hour while carpet repairs were done that should have been handled by maintenance prior to our arrival. The apartment was disgusting, empty, and uninhabitable-the cleaning we were supposed to do ourselves.

They said we were getting a completely furnished unit, but all that was in here was a desk and a side table. It... took months to get barstools, and we never received bed frames or dressers. We were still charged with a monthly furniture fee!

The worst issue was MOLD. Mold accumulated in the water heater room, which none of us had access to, creating a serious health hazard. Management only found out about it because I had to put in a request, so who knows if the mold would still be there for future residents.

The internet was not reliable, and for weeks, I was not able to attend classes online. I had to buy my own Wi-Fi at extra cost. Moreover, the office staff were unreachable and very arrogant. Calls were not responded to, and even paying rent was stressful because of their lousy system.

After moving out, they had the audacity to charge me $320 in bogus fees, including cleanup and damage fees that I am disputing. For example, carpet damage was caused by another tenant's dog, not mine. They refuse to address these issues and continue to ignore the unsafe and unacceptable conditions tenants endured.

Trash was always piled up around the premises, and the general environment was poorly maintained. I can prove this through video and photo evidence that I have.

i love my space at the cottages, it was well prepared for move in! the staff is super helpful and nice too! 10/10 experience so far!

This is my second year living here at the cottages and I absolutely LOVE living here. This is a great place to make friends and have fun by the pool. The office always has something fun to do and they have a lot of social events! this is your sign to move here!

Each person I spoke with in their office handled my (many) questions with patience and were extremely polite.
