Over my long life of 70 years, I’ve lived in approximately 8 different apartment complexes: some good, some okay, and some bad from Alaska to Virginia to Texas and back again. Most have met my one bedroom--one bath needs decorated with the trendy décor for each particular decade. What has made some more memorable than others is the atmosphere and uniqueness of each community, typically set by those who manage the facility. Sadly, too many seem to “run themselves,” with little to no oversight. ... And, there a few others that have gone to the extreme with an attempt to provide appropriate activities for every age group, ultimately meeting the needs of a very few. Remarkably, my most current rent is in a senior facility for 55 . The complex is successful having an ongoing waiting list because it’s tailored to the needs and wants of active older people. The entire community has monthly input into the calendar of activities we desire. The property is managed: kept clean and safe. I feel fortunate to have located such an outstanding apartment complex at a time when I’m ready to enjoy and benefit from my retirement years. Apartments YES! Read More
