Very Corrupted Apartment Management Practices
I am writing to formally document my experience with the apartment management, which has raised significant concerns regarding their practices and accountability.
1. Lack of Walkthrough Inspection
Upon moving into the initial apartment, I was not given the opportunity for a walkthrough inspection. This omission appears to be a deliberate strategy to avoid accountability for existing conditions. Consequently, when I vacated the unit, management attempted to hold me responsible for damages and... repairs that were not my obligation.
2. Health Concerns Due to Mold
The initial apartment I occupied exhibited severe black mold, which posed serious health risks to both myself and my son. After enduring health issues directly related to this environment, I was compelled to advocate for a relocation to a different unit. While management eventually acquiesced, the subsequent apartment presented its own set of issues.
3. Condition of the Replacement Apartment
Upon moving into the replacement unit, I encountered several unacceptable conditions:
• Damaged Walls: The walls were in disrepair, requiring immediate attention. Despite requests, maintenance did not respond.
• Infestation: The presence of spiders and beetles created an unsanitary living environment.
• Unclean Kitchen: The kitchen was excessively greasy, necessitating the hiring of a professional cleaning service at my own expense.
4. Personal Efforts to Improve Conditions
In an effort to rectify these issues, I undertook cleaning and painting tasks myself, as maintenance did not provide assistance. While the carpet was newly installed, it was improperly fitted, leading to my son tripping and sustaining an injury.
5. Dispute Over Deposit
Upon vacating the property, I ensured that the apartment was left in a condition better than when I arrived. Despite this, management has claimed an additional charge of $110 for a damaged door and carpet cleaning services. I personally cleaned the new carpet before my departure, and it was free of stains. I have documented evidence, including photographs and videos, to support my case. Despite my requests for proof of the alleged damage, management has not responded to my inquiries.
