Downright rude and unhelpful staff. Cockroaches the ENTIRE time I've lived here. All building utilities are shared so heat and a/c aren't turned on until late in each season. The thermostats don't work. The water in the shower and sinks is always scalding hot or freezing. Refrigerator didn't work and spoiled our food for weeks and they refused to get us a new one. 95% of my maintenance requests were never filled then after some time were just closed out. Emergency water shut offs with no notice... when there is a leak happening OUTSIDE the building. This is the most stressful place I have EVER lived. Please stay away for your own mental health. Cheap for a reason. You'll have constant leaks and maintenance issues. Constant noise though paper thin walls and floors. Shared laundry (one washer and dryer per BUILDING) that will be broken for a month at a time. It's cheap, they cover utilities, and it's a good location. Only move here if you're staying for a very short term. Otherwise you'll have constant headaches from this ineptly run place. I would give it zero stars if possible.

The apartment building is old and lacks ventilation. An adjacent apartment was recently renovated and polyurethane fumes are leaking into my apartment. I complained to management that they need to adequately ventilate when renovating. Nothing has been done to remedy the situation.

I moved into this place because it was so cheap. And I got exactly what I paid for.

There are few positives relating to this place besides the price. Management is okay, but they stick to a strict calendar policy when it comes to turning on the A/C and heat despite the temp outside. The washing and drying machines are overpriced and breakdown. The blinds are cheap and tend to break and the closet sliding doors continuously come off the tracks. My floorboards kept warping from what I assume... was water damage.

In an expensive area where most apartments are either exorbitantly expensive with all upgraded units or less expensive but decrepit, Fort Strong Villas is a good balance. Average rent for the region, the complex is 15 minutes walking distance to Courthouse or Clarendon metro. It has no amenities or frills, but the apartments are fairly spacious with balconies are parking included. A good deal for a difficult area.
