Constant issues
The only real positive about this apartment community is the location. Beyond that, my experience was extremely disappointing.
The biggest issue was the persistent rodent problem. The entire time I lived here, there were rats in the walls. I repeatedly reported scratching and squeaking noises to maintenance, and while the maintenance staff themselves were always kind and did what they could, they informed me that my downstairs neighbor was reporting the exact same issue. Despite numerous... maintenance requests, the problem was never resolved. On one occasion, the scratching and chewing noises in my bedroom walls were so loud that I couldn't even stay in my apartment for the week because it sounded like the rats were going to chew through the wall. It's incredibly frustrating to pay monthly pest control fees while dealing with ongoing rodents and seeing roaches throughout the property.
There were also ongoing issues with the parking garage. At one point, the garage door malfunctioned, preventing residents from leaving. Afterward, the garage entrance remained without a functioning door for an extended period.
The package room was consistently disorganized, and the property rarely utilized the package notification system. Instead of receiving notifications, residents were left guessing whether packages had arrived and searching through piles of deliveries to find them.
Parking is another major downside. There is no guest parking, and even resident parking is extremely limited.
The advertised amenities were also disappointing. Access to the business center was unreliable because it was often locked, and resident key fobs did not consistently provide access.
My move-out experience has been just as frustrating as my tenancy. I disputed several charges that were deducted from my security deposit and repeatedly requested documentation explaining how certain utility charges were calculated, including copies of the supporting utility invoices. Despite multiple emails and my concerns being escalated to management, I never received the documentation I requested or a clear explanation of several of the disputed charges.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience as a former resident. We appreciate your feedback and are grateful that you recognized the convenience of our community’s location. We understand the importance of a comfortable living... environment, and all pest control and maintenance concerns are taken seriously and addressed as promptly as possible. The package room is organized multiple times each week to assist residents in locating packages. Our community has two levels of parking available, providing ample space for both residents and guests. The garage incident you refer to was caused by a resident striking the garage door, which caused it to become stuck. Residents were not left trapped in the garage. Management immediately contacted the garage door vendor to arrange service. The business center is connected to the leasing office and so is only open during leasing office hours. Still, all residents have access to the business center during these times, as the door is always unlocked. Regarding the charges assessed, these were related to utilities incurred during your time of occupancy. Supporting documentation, including itemized utility statements outlining the charges and applicable service dates, was provided for your review. If you have any remaining questions or would like to discuss the details further, we would welcome the opportunity to connect with you. Please feel free to email us at shirlingtonvillage@waterton.com.
