Do not rent or buy on the first floor of 8 Gables East

Do not rent or buy on the first floor of 8 Gables East. The entire second floor is owned by a company and repeated complaints for excessive noise have not been responded to. You can hear running, jumping and what sounds like wrestling on the floor above. It would be one thing if it was just during the day when you can turn your music up but the noise continues into the night. We have been told that there is absolutely nothing that can be done about the noise.

Nice but it has it's flaws

My boyfriend and I just moved in and it's a nice interior and we like the screened porch. The place is doable for two people. We noticed cracks in the ceilings and bubbling in the office room which was mentioned at the time of move-in. Among other things that are being addressed like scratches on the master bath mirror and a dented refrigerator door. I was surprised to learn for the first time renting any place that you have to pay extra for anything that is not provided. The master bath is... weird with two showers and nothing on the walk in shower (no door, no rod) and they tell me I have to buy and pay to have it installed myself. Meanwhile, next door, there is a unit that is a "basic" layout with a shower door (seemed strange). The tubs are very high, my boyfriend tripped getting out of it (nothing to grip onto). We picked the one we have because it had hardwood floors in the main traffic areas.

Anyway, among other things, the building itself is not well maintained. Dirty outside (they need to sweep once in a while!), the doors and paint are filthy. When we moved in, the basement area where the storage units are smelled and the one we got was full of cobwebs, dead bugs and we had to clean it out before having stuff moved in. The place is not that bad, it just has flaws and construction is still going on. We hope the big huge mount of dirt by Gables East Way (by the entrance) is fixed, because that looks nasty (like a dump). We ran into two other tenants and they say they're not renewing or buying because of water leaks and mold and other personal reasons.

We sure hope that things get better because we have a 2 year lease and want to be happy because we like the area and find it convenient.
