Auburn Place Apartments

New office staff is dishonest. I was a loyal tenant for 3 years. Never had any issues, always payed everything on time. When it came time to move out they told me if I primed the walls I wouldn't be charged for re-painting. I spent over a hundred dollars and weeks applying multiple coats of primer to the entire apartment and they still charged me. Fair warning: if you choose Auburn and they say you can paint your walls, DON'T! Also got charged for carpet cleaning. Firstly, that carpet was stain... free because I personally removed every single one with a stain remover. And shouldn't shampooing the carpet before a new tenant moves in be standard practice and the responsibility of the landlord? I wouldn't be surprised if you charge every tenant for carpet cleaning regardless of its condition just so you don't have to cover the cost yourselves. Read More

I was relying on this place to be somewhere comfortable and safe for my newborn to live for awhile but so far all I’ve had is problem after problem. When we first moved in, we had water damage that came from a leak from the fridge and we had to have big blowers running constantly to dry the cabinets, wall, and carpet, and there was a leak coming from our toilet. Our closet doors were not opening properly either. Now my shower faucet has black specks coming out of the water, my sink is leaking,... and currently our biggest issue is BUGS. The property has people who come out and spray to help with the bugs but it apparently isn’t working and they’ve came to my specific apartment about four times - one being literally a week ago and after leaving for the weekend, I came home to four spiders. I can say the staff is friendly and tries to be some sort of help, and the rooms are a nice size but for the amount of money I pay to stay here, is not worth it. These apartments are honestly incredible. My favorite part is the size of the kitchen. I have always preferred to have people gathered in the kitchen as it feels more like a home environment. You cant find a better place than this. Not only is the unit nice sized and reasonably priced, the staff is amazing as well. Anytime I have had any maintenance requests, they were quick to respond and never needed rework. The manager, Angela, is also amazing because she cares enough to know the residents by... name. When I would go into the office, she automatically knew who I was and which apartment I was in. My family and I have lived at Auburn Place Apartments for a combined 6 years. We lived here for 2 years as newlyweds in a one bedroom apartment and now in a two bedroom where we have welcomed our two sons!

The property has undergone a lot of changes in management in our last 4 years here. Since Angela became the Property Manager (which the residents campaigned for) the level of courtesy and care has enhanced tremendously. You are always greeted with a smile and by name. Our maintenance team... has also undergone quite a few changes but our current team is incredible. There can be a small delay in maintenance request being attended to, but they usually complete them in the order they received them in unless it is a priority (such as no AC in the summer, no heat in the winter and no water).

The layout is incredibly spacious for the price and I know that renovations and upgrades are being completed as apartment empty out. If you want to lease here be quick because an apartment is only empty long enough to be turned over, have repairs and upgrades completed.

My two boys have a large common backyard area behind our building where they can run and play. Neighbors are respectful of quiet hours and the parking is plentiful (and not assigned). The area around our neighborhood is quiet with a small kids park down the road. We are near but not ON a major road with access to highways only 3mi away. We are within 5 miles of 2 malls, Target, Walmart, multiple grocery stores, restaurants, auto repair and a post office. We are also only 10 mi from the ocean front. If you are military, it's a 5-10min drive to Oceana, a 10-15min drive to a Little Creek, a 20-30min drive to Norfolk and a 15-20min drive to Portsmouth.

If you are looking to live at this property, I would highly recommend it. As I said before we moved here as newlyweds and only left due to a PCS as we are a military family. Upon learning of our return to the area we immediately knew there was no other place we wanted to live! Read More
